I feel its camouflage that draws attention. Even non enthusiasts will know that its a car on test. That is a kind of ploy in itself. You will see heavily camouflaged cars form major manufacturers that will just be undergoing a measly facelift which includes no more than a new bumper or headlights. This imo is mainly done to make headlines like "So and so facelift spotted testing"

Secondly, Citroen has no need to camouflage the car. They've announced what they are gonna sell here and any tom, dick and harry can get images of the C5 over the internet.

But if they still choose to camouflage it then it will draw much more attention. Media organisations will be going gaga over the spy shots of the C5 Aircross under heavy camouflage. Right now, there is not much coverage about it.

re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

Looking at all the spy shots and videos of the C5, despite being labeled as quirky looking Crossover/SUV I find it quite at home on the Indian roads. To be honest, it looks very handsome especially when viewed from the rear. Hunkered down and big round edges make it look imposing yet in a friendly manner.

Interesting, only difference being that they are French, and are calling on their own History. Compare that to MG Hector, which is a Chinese vehicle fully conceived and originally built in China, calling itself British on account of MG brand’s original British origin!

Has HM-Mitsubishi sold the Thiruvallur plant to PCA?

Does Mitsubishi assemble the Pajero Sport or Outlander in India or do they bring them as CBUs?

It'll be interesting to see how Citreon shapes up in India. They seem to be really niche and quirky.

AFAIK, the Thiruvallur plant was taken over by PSA, for vehicle manufacturing set-up & they have powertrain plant in Hosur (tie up with AVTECH & PSA).
Pajero Sport plus is still in sale as CBU from Mitsubishi.

Everything I see here oozes quality. I guess this is export version being manufactured in India. I hope Indian version is priced at Seltos/Creta range.

Don’t we all hope and wish it was priced around 20L?
There’s no way it’s happening. The C5 is their flagship model. According to Autocar, it will be come with a 2.0 litre 180bhp diesel engine and it will compete against Kodiaq and Tiguan Allspace. Although I believe it’s hard to sell volumes if priced at that range i.e. 40L on road. I hope they price it and place the car against the Skoda Karoq, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. Since this is a CKD, I’m not optimistic over the price.
I personally find it hard to spend 30-40L on a company’s first car in India. They should have gotten a 20L car like what Kia did. When people accept the brand and they’re confident about it then should have gotten a 30L plus car like how Kia got the Carnival post the success of the Seltos. However, Citroen is planning on locally producing other cars in the future. We’ll know more in Q1 2021.

Cheers!!

re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

This car was my second ever development. My team was in charge of the occupant safety and seat/seatbelt integration for the 1st row and 2nd row. We were also responsible for the optimization of the design of the centre console.

If I recall correctly, the car got 5 star EuroNCAP rating for the 2nd row and 4.5 stars for the front. They also got (nearly!?) top honours for pedestrian safety and child safety. The low-speed insurance load case was an issue but I am not sure how it was rated in the end. But it passed the homologation tests with flying colours to be sold on the European market, so I assume it was all fine.

The console looks entirely different from what we developed originally but I assume it is based on individual markets and customer demand. Also manufacturability and raw materials availability. We had some squeaking and rattling issues in the beginning that was later solved. I am not sure if this has this base design. If so, watch out. But I would assume Citroen have done their homework in this aspect.

All in all, a terrific car.

re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

Came across two brand new c5 on the roads last weekend in Chennai Ring road. They looked immaculate in black. Solid build and looks premium. In the league of Q series, won't think it can be priced on our aspiration levels. Wish Skoda and Citroen start manufacturing the flagship SUVs instead of CBU route.

The Citroen alloys resemble the old Creta's diamond cut alloys

And the Magnite alloys resemble the Venue's.

Citroen comes to Kolkata, to open its first showroom in Park Street. Going by the dealership promoter, I wonder if its the Jeep showroom being converted to Citroen?
