Re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

I have a feeling Nissan is going to price this starting at Triber levels, going all the way up to Sonet/Venue levels. Though at the same time it will need to undercut the Korean rivals to gain any kind of traction.

Overlapping the Venue/Sonet on pricing too much with the general economy build quality of this platform + that noisy 1 liter turbo motor will be quite a risky gamble I feel.

My understanding is the Magnite, alongwith Renault Kiger will compete with the upcoming Tata HBX. So the pricing could be in the KUV100 levels. Some how I dont feel these cars are going to compete against the current crop of CSUVs. It would be a Tigor vs Dzire scenario. I feel this is mainly to do with it being based on the Kwids platform.

Nissan almost unveils the production-spec Nissan Magnite in new promo video

Here are some screenshots I could capture-

1. The most sorted out rear in the segment-

Re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Looks great! Hope they launch it in this shade of red. I'm tired of seeing the same colour palette on every new car launch. And, I hope they get the interiors right. Nissan Kicks in UAE is just wow, but when I saw it in India I was wondering if it's the same car. Wishing Nissan a new lease of life and the very best on 21st

Re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

This teaser looks fantastic and feels like the brainchild of Rakesh Srivastava. Eagerly waiting to see how much "Indian" spec car Magnite is as they are advertising it.

Hoping to see these changes at-least:
- RHD stalks - not the EU one.
- Better ergonomics. Kicks' armrest is disaster. It irritates while engaging handbrake and doesn't have any storage space.
- 6 airbags, hill hold and other safety speakers.
- Improved steering mounted controls. Not some hacky stalk underneath steering for media control.

Nissan should also include few gimmick(Karol Bagh-ish) features which buyers in this segment fancy about:
- Roof rails
- Sunroof
- Speakers (Bose/JBL or any fancy brand)
- Mood lightning
- Illuminated scuff plates
- LEDs everywhere
- Auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers etc.
- Chrome finish as an accessory for every part on car.

Re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

While the design itself looks good, it is once again a case of a relatively underpowered turbo petrol as compared to the 1 liter turbo petrols which are currently ruling the market . Do not really expect this to be a major hit, at best there will be some lukewarm sales based upon the initial new release euphoria, in my view.

Re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Beautiful looking car and hope it gets the deserved sales.
Only thing that irks me in the advertisement is the use of stock footage of non Indian roads.
Like they couldn't get hold of a water logged Indian city road? Had to use a USA road?

And that speed bump?
We use them in malls and apartment compounds.
The ones in our roads are mini hills!!!

Hmm....They should be lookin at a festival launch this year. Ideally get some sales and street numbers/presence before the Tata HBX is launched and inevitably takes away the segment.

But then, like you said, most of the car sales happen on the basis that such Karol Bagh ish stuff comes as standard or are there in higher variants.

Sums up the chicken and egg plight of Nissan India.
Nissan India waiting for the Magnite to be a success so they could take a decision on the Indian market, while customers are waiting for the Magnite to be a success, so that they can confidently buy it a little later without fear of the company shutting shop.

Re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

Nissan should first start looking at getting more dealerships and more advertising/marketing. They dont have a single dealer in a market like Pune anymore, for crying out loud.

After launching the Kicks CVT, I still haven't seen a decent review video of that car. Meanwhile the Duster is hanging on, jurassic-era interiors notwithstanding.

No wonder the Kicks has been kicked prematurely out of the reckoning in the midsize Crossover segment. Why are they even bothering with the Magnite is beyond my understanding, especially with the Kia Sonet spreading like wildfire.
They may have great cars (am an ex-owner of a Micra) , but their intent is more questionable than their abilities.

Re: The Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV

The first look and promos look appealing and this mini SUV seems to be proportionate; not sure but the rear looks much better than the Sonet.

I hope Nissan does not price this out of the market and ensures good quality control coupled with a decent set of features; not to mention having a serious look at their dealer network and service stations.
