The most over & under rated car in India

Underrated: Has to be the Peugeot 309 GLD. I sold mine last week. I test drove the OHC, Swift and Esteem before finally settling for a 2005 Petra ELX diesel I got for a song. Only then, (after the initial thrill of the power steering and the relatively silent cabin) did I realise the brilliant dynamics of the Peugeot, it handled better than any Indian car and the ride was head and shoulder above anything else I have driven. The only weak points were no power steering, a somewhat noisy engine, the weak front suspension and the high cost of spare. (To be fair, most spares were imported from EU and lasted a long time.)
I miss my Peugeot. Life with a 309 was a rich experience.

NHC surely is over rated. But here is my point. Until SX4 was launched there was no real threat . SX4 gave all goodies and whistles at 8 l on road. Then people realised Honda should make it optional for some goodies. Why didnt people open their mouth before SX4. NHC is still selling 2000 units p.m. Honda does know how to create a brand image. waiting for the NNHC. Coming back to the topic( i know i blabber a lot):

Most overrated:

1. Octavia

Most underrated:

1.Fiat Petra 1.9 D
2.Baleno
3. Optra( IMO best value for money irrespective of A**)

In my opinion
Most over rated:
Toyota Corolla (more like over priced really)

Most under rated:
Fiat Palio 1.6 for sure! Anybody who has driven one will know what I'm talking about

Most over-rated

IMHO, it is SX4. For 8.3 L there is no luxury inside the car. Have
you checked the Booty lid and the finishing? If they say NHC is pricy
and at least a lakh more then I would say SX4 has to be 1 lakh less.

I think Car's are more also about looks, comfort, style etc etc and not just
ground clearance with large footwears!!!

A car is always a She, can't be a He !!!!

IMHO please, no flames.

Most under-rated

All Fiat vehicles!
My Dad/Grand Dad were among the first Fiat dealers in India and they
swear by Fiat's Engine but nowadays even my Dad doesn't agree to buy
a fiat :-)

I Think Maruti Alto Is Over Rated Because Maruti Was To Stop 800 That Dose Not Mean That We Have To Like The Alto.

Most underrated - Baleno, Cedia, Palio

these are really good cars, just look are the rally scene you'll see.

Most overrated - i10, Estilo (Its no Zen, no way. Every Zen owner shares the same sentiment I guess) , Alto (Glorified 800, it seems maruti likes this

Most overrated : i10 for sure. No offence to i10 owners ! I think this car is mainly running cos of beige interiors. Overpriced for a 1.1 engine.

Most underrated: Baleno , Cedia!

IMHO:

a)
Over-rated:
There is not one car, but more than one car that appear on my overrated list.
Both Honda City and Hyundai i10 share the first place.

1) Honda City ( includes G1HC and G2HC ).
1) Hyundai i10.
3) Hyundai Santro ( includes both the first version and Xing ).
4) Honda Civic.

b)
Under-rated:
Here, again there is not one car, but more than one.

1) Maruti Baleno
2) Peugeot 309 GLD ( with TUD 5 engine ).
3) Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia.
