Re: Is your car rattle-free?

Alto K10 - Rattles when stationary and windows down(3 pot vibrations rather)
Corolla Altis (2015 model) - Not even a squeak. Solid like a tank. This is how you should build cars. I can only hear the engine growl while on heavy foot

Ertiga(first gen) - Only the middle row used to rattle when empty(and on bad roads). Car felt solid with rear occupants and never felt any issues. Overall happy with Maruti improving the build

Swift Petrol 1.3(first gen) - Rattle was a feature of this car and i made peace with it. However it was more to do with the bad roads back then. Car felt silent after every service.

Among other cars in family
Swift diesel (first gen) - This definitely was more noisy and rattled more than my petrol swift
SX4 - Solid car for a maruti
First gen Figo - one of the best drivers cars, solid built
New Dzire - great improvement as compared to earlier versions, feels solid
Skoda Rapid - nuff said

Overall, my experience

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

Yes, no rattles.

In the Spark which I had for 5 years.
In the Beat which is almost 7 years now. Just the occasional squeak from the seat which goes off when lubricated.

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

My Honda City was rattle free. I did enjoy rattle free ownership.
My present car Santro is also rattle free.
Thank God I am spared from rattles of car till now.

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

My first car, a used Baleno Sedan had minimal issues with rattles which I used for 6 years until the car turned 11 years. The car that I currently own, a used ALTIS CVT which is in its 11th year also had 1-2 rattles that was always fixed easily by my trusted mechanic. She has done 1,30,000 kms but yet drives like a dream so silently.

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

2006 Indica Xeta - Every single part rattled. Sold off in 2010.
2007 Swift 1.3 Petrol Vxi - Rattles like no other. Sold off mainly due to rattles and expensive maintenance at around 60000 kms.
2009 Vista 1.3 Qjt Aqua - At 140000 kms in 2019, it did have a few minor rattles. But considering the age and the abuse it has taken, it was Ok. Had to write it off in 2019 due to flood damage.
2013 Tata Safari Dicor Lx 2.2 - Used to rattle, but fixed most of it with double sided tapes. All rattles are easy to identify and fix. But there are squeaks from seats and tailgate which are irritants on bad roads. Yet to find a solution. Still running strong in 2021 @ 60K kms.
2012 Corolla Altis 1.8 G MT - Just picked up this month (Nov, 2021). At 9 years and 43000 kms, it feels like it just rolled out of the factory line yesterday. No squeaks, no rattles, no electrical failures ! This car is built to last forever. All I hear is the engine note, which I did not find very pleasant though. So I drive with a very light foot and I am getting over 11kmpl in Bangalore suburbs. First used car and I am a very, very happy owner now. Became an admirer of Toyota in less than a month.

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

Honda BR-V diesel. Noisy diesel but, the interior seems very well screwed together. Rough terrain, terrible roads and absolutely no rattling except for some mild squeaks from the seat hinges at times which has been reduced with insulation tapes. A very barebones car but, it does seem well put together really.

Honda Jazz 2017, Petrol CVT. Insane rattling driving me nuts. The rattling seems to have a source under/inside the glovebox and feels like loose ball bearings moving around. Incredibly difficult to zero in on what's causing it and the service center folks are as usual "we'll check it and then take it for a road test". Zero help and the problem persists. The front passenger seat seems to be wobbling and making noises too. Bad.

I was expecting it to be the other way round with the BR-V having more rattles as it's a built to a cost product but I'm surprised.

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

VW Vento 1.6 TDI Manual (2012 - Till Date with 180K Kms on ODO). Absolutely 0 rattles. no issues with any body part including doors, dash rattling. Only problem is the infamous "thud" in Vento suspension when passing over speed breakers with a bit of speed. Not surprised given the build quality of Vento.

Maruti Astar ZXi Manual (2009 - Till Date with 100K kms on ODO). Slight rattles which go on and off in the glove box and AC area on the left side of the dashboard. However, unlike the vento, suspension has been super silent while going over speed breakers or bumps

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

Bumping this thread, to get some insights into the recent launches.

Please take a minute or two to talk about the rattle quotient of your car, so that it can help with useful input towards my quest for my next car.

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

2015 Vento Tsi - Absolutely zero rattles, despite the abuse it has got on Bangalore roads over 7 years now.

The only thing that rattles are the VW sun shades which were fitted as an accessory!

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

2007 to 2015 - Santro Xing GLS, 1,10,000 KMS --> Started rattling at about 40K mark and only increased with time. When I finally sold it in 2015, it made noise like my daughters piggy bank :-).
2015 to till date -- Ciaz Diesel --> No rattle so far :-). Talking to my neighbors and friends who own Ciaz, it looks to me like lowest/nil rattling Maruti so far.

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

My Swift had rattles within 4 hours of ownership. My Skoda Rapid is rattle free after 7 years of ownership.

But then Swift has never been to service center for any errors and is always ready to go. Skoda Rapid on the other hand is error prone lot of time.

Re: Is your car rattle-free?

I drive a 2011 Chevrolet beat LT LPG, 89K ODO. The car is touchwood to date without any rattler. But recently I shifted my job and need to take another road to the office which has lots of speed breakers to pass through. Since then my front left suspension started making a thud noise every time it passes through any bad patch (even the smallest pothole).
Meanwhile, I serviced the car and changed the bush for all four wheels and noise disappears.
