This new SUV will be around 4.2-meters long and will sit on the fifth-gen City platform as opposed to the older fourth-gen City architecture on which the new WR-V shown today is based on.

Another dealer shared that it will be launched in Dec 22.

I am eagerly waiting to book the HRV in case it launches, else will have to do with the facelifted City!

I talked to a dealer earlier today, and was told the same thing. Launch in March, and deliveries from June. This is for the Creta-rival, so presumably the HRV.

The same dealer told me no City facelift any time soon. I was quite surprised but he seemed confident.

Basis the information I got from a reliable source, City Facelift launch is in Feb End / Early Mar'23 and this time there will be a lower variant also for the HEV.
However considering the timeline coinciding for RDE Norms compliance in City and the facelift cosmetic changes, the price increase will be very significant from a customer perspective. [No value addition in RDE Compliance cost up for customer]

On HR-V, its future in India is yet to be decided. In past (2019), they have already scrapped the launch plans at the very last moment. Being Japanese, its unlikely they will re-evaluate the launch again without tasting any success in the Indian SUV Market.

But the good news is, they are certain to launch their C-SUV [Creta Rival] sometime in Q3'23 which will share its powertrain with City, likely in Hybrid Avatar as well.

And the 2nd SUV, which is still under consideration by their management, may be from Volume Segment i.e. Sub 4M SUV or the much awaited HR-V.

This is the WR-V launched in Indonesia to replace the current C-SUV in India.

Honda at this time seems to be the proverbial dinosaur - feeding on the abundant greenery, unaware of the looming extinction coming its way!

I am not really sure on that, the model launching next year, codenamed 3US is longer than the Indonesian Spec WR-V . It is currently undergoing production trials at their Rajasthan facility.

And it has more to with the recently unveiled ZR-V in Japan and it is quite possible that Honda might use this brand in India as well to differentiate from WR-V.

I'd frankly take any Honda launch speculation with a bucket of salt.

The HR-V could've been a top selling model with the very same powertrain options offered on the City. They had the badge to their advantage, and still do. However, Honda fans are too familiar with the sheep and wolf folklore.

While the HR-V will not come to India, Honda announces its much awaited mid-SUV for India.



While the SUV shown in the teaser does look a lot like the HR-V sold overseas, there are some design cues that confirm that this is a completely different model.

Quite possibly a case where it may closely resemble the HR-V sold abroad but based on a different platform like the Creta/Seltos. I just hope they do enough to differenciate it from the Amaze so that people aren't constantly reminded of what it's actually based on.
