Will be positioned as the premium offering in Honda Cars India Lineup due to Civic & CR-V's Absence.

Indian Spec HR-V will see some minor revisions compared to Thailand Spec.
From this statement, it seems like Honda are targeting the Tucson / Compass/ and to some extent Harrier and XUV500 segment. Interesting times in the 20-30 lakh Segment, with the upcoming XUV500, talks about the new generation Octavia and now this.

Will be 2nd product for the year after Honda City Hybrid (May-June 2021)

I guess this will be Honda's last throw at Indian Market, if this fails, I see Honda packing up.
If they can price competitively then these both will sell. No one can beat Honda and Toyota in reliability and safety.

Is the HRV hybrid expected or petrol ?

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

The City Hybrid seems to be a sensible option, if priced right. I hope they are priced at 1-1.5 Lakh premium over petrol and not far off from similarly spec'd diesel variants. As a demonstration of technology, the city seems to be the ideal car for two reasons -
1. Mid level professionals in metros who are natural target segment of the City will be willing to drive a hybrid.
2. People who want to try an EV, but are put off by range anxiety may want to try a hybrid. What better car than a familiar, successful and iconic City to try...

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

How I wish these two cars (City and HRV) were plug-in hybrids with a 50 km EV-only range. PHEVs are ideally suited for our country, with poor charging infra, personal safety concerns with range limitations and so on.

Hope Honda and Toyota are listening!

Honda and Toyota have been crying hoarse for supportive policies for hybrids all along, especially PHEVs.

Its our respected Government that should be listening!

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Finally some news and happenings from Honda on positive side.

Lacking the turbo and lack of proper SUV in indian sales lineup is killing Honda dealers.

Hybrid City and HRV would be great and Honda could cash up on the reliability and mileage along with decent performance.

HRV is must need for Honda in India. The more they delay, the more it could be a failure

I'm not really sure what to believe and what not to about Honda. This product holds a lot of promise but I don't see this selling well in India unless heavily localized.

Still, this news tempts me to wait till end of the year for my next car, but Honda's past poor decisions have always set one up for a heart break.

If you have the ability to wait till mid-2022 then it makes sense. I doubt if Honda will manage to release HR-V this year. In my view a realistic timeline is mid-2022 given how slow Honda is. And I am really doubtful of these guys launching the City Hybrid by June 2021 as well - that itself may move to end of the year is my guess. Again, I would be happy if I am proven wrong and Honda does some magic

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Looks good, however knowing Honda they might price this at Tucson, Compass territory than that of Seltos/Creta and eventually discontinue it.

But SUV is much needed in Honda portfolio now, This and another sub-4m should turn around their fortune along with City.

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Honda needs to introduce this in India ASAP. After the Mobilio and BR-V, this is exactly the kind of product Honda needs in their portfolio to spruce things up.

This looks very good with plush interiors too. If Honda gets the pricing right, the HR-V can be a true winner for them and can be a great turning point in their India journey. Despite a difficult phase, IMHO, they have still not lost their premium positioning. The 5th city is a classic example. They priced it well and it is selling in good numbers in the C2 segment despite the SUV wave in our country.
