Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Not sure if this has been posted before but this is the best video of the new HRV I have seen -

The car looks really great inside out, I am particularly happy with the quality of interiors which seem to be a notch better than the Creta/Seltos standard.

But, I dont have any hopes from Honda India, so not going to lose my sleep over this coming to India.

I'm already sold. When is this coming to India? Handsome and practical SUV. @Honda, you have my booking promise.

This is one beautiful looking car. It is inexplicable why Honda is not bringing this to India.

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

The car has been on the rumour mills for so long, I think its long past its time. Already the wide gap which existed has nearly been filled by so many entrants.

It remains to be seen; even if Honda brings it to India, what value proposition it come with. The only positive I can see if a good X-over with a good petrol engine competing with the other strong turbo-charged petrol based product lines in the market.

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Vezel is not going too be a Creta/Seltos competitor. Its more in Compass/Tucson territory.
Well, the market with anything above 20L is minuscule & selling 500 units a month wont cut it. It would take 2-3 years to get to 32,000+ bookings, so they are focusing on right markets.

For India, they should immediately shift focus to crossovers. They can get 5K sales per month in their UV range alone with 3 offerings:
First, they should make the BRV (a lot more) aspirational and re-launch it between 8-13 Lakhs - this is their only offering in sub 15L range.
Second, launch HRV in the 15-20 Lakhs (with turbo engines)
Relaunch CRV at 24 - 28 lakhs (this can alone sell 500+ if they reaffirm their faith in India with a robust portfolio)

On sedans, bring Civic back with turbo engines.

Don't be greedy, Honda - you have failed big time being so.

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Going by Honda's history in India, they are going to dig their own grave in all new launches except Amaze.
Although this car looks substantially better than Creta/Seltos, it is the pricing that matters most. Hyundai and Kia have their products priced competitively and there is no way Honda is going to be inline with them.
I am sure their high price strategy will confuse the buyers in market. My personal feeling says that this time they have to justify their high cost by introducing hybrid variant. Honda should really move fast in introducing hybrid variants in all cars and also start introducing small EV cars. This is the only way they can get back to Indian market.

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Given Honda's history of bringing in popular global models, this car either will not be launched or will be launched at very high price. I still think Hondia India is a one trick pony - just City.

Sad part it that they dont seem to learn their lessons. They think they are in the league of the 3 Germans in India only and price the vehicles in that range. Its time India management get off the high-horses and see the ground reality.

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Honda will not bring the HR-V to India, instead will bring the mid size SUV, based on the City platform.

The mid-sized SUV will be similar to the N7X concept unveiled in Indonesia.

New HR-V spotted. Is that the all-new 2022 Honda HR-V with VTEC turbo?

But there’s more, the spy shots of the HR-V also revealed that the SUV features two exhaust pipes. Does this mean that a turbocharged engine will be added to the engine line-up?
Quote:
This is not the first time Honda installed a turbo in the HR-V, a turbocharged version of the HR-V was previously available only in Europe before Honda launched a Japan-only HR-V Touring in 2019.

The four-cylinder 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine produces 182 PS and 240 Nm for the 6-speed manual or 220 Nm for the CVT.

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Wow, is Honda really planning to bring it finally to India?
The new HRV definitely feels a cut above the Creta or Seltos and if it comes with the 1.5 Turbo, then I will definitely be interested to consider it.
But I have so less hopes from Honda India that I won't believe this to be true unless there is an official announcement from Honda.

I don't think so. The pics are not from India. These are most likely from Indonesia or some other South-East Asian country.
