Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

If it comes to India it will sit with the Jeep Compass or Tuscon on pricing scale.
There's more chances of the BRV making a return since it shares parts bin with Amaze.

The car looks really great inside out, I am particularly happy with the quality of interiors which seem to be a notch better than the Creta/Seltos standard.

But, I dont have any hopes from Honda India, so not going to lose my sleep over this coming to India.
To all the folks following this thread, remember that it's priced at BMW X1/Volvo XC40 territory. Let that soak in!

2023 Honda shows its First Sketches Of its North America’s SUV.

Honda is celebrating the new year by giving a peek at the 2023 HR-V.

Quote:
Set to debut later this year, the redesigned model promises to be a “sporty and versatile” crossover that is unique to North America. That’s immediately apparent from these teaser images as the US-spec model is completely different from the international variant that was introduced in 2021.

All-new 2022 Honda HR-V spotted undisguised in Indonesia, is that a VTEC turbo ?

the third-generation HR-V was caught undisguised in Indonesia for a commercial shoot. Based on a video recorded and shared by Indonesian automotive sleuth, two units of the all-new HR-V were spotted just outside Jakarta.
Quote:
The two units appear to be the RS and SE variants and it’s the former that is of interest. In the video, the RS is the red unit and if you look closely, you would spot two twin tailpipes at the rear
Could Indonesia be the market that will see the debut of the all-new turbocharged HR-V? Currently, the HR-V is offered with a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre engine (118 PS/142 Nm) or an e:HEV hybrid system that mates a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle naturally-aspirated engine (106 PS/127 Nm) to an electric motor (131 PS/253 Nm).

Quote:
Both engine options only have a single exhaust pipe but twin tailpipes were offered on turbocharged versions of the previous-generation HR-V that was only available in Europe and Japan
.

The turbocharged 1.5-litre VTEC unit on the previous-gen makes 182 PS and 240 Nm for the 6-speed manual or 220 Nm for the CVT automatic.

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Honda has 1.5 liter (& a derivative in India). Why don't they launch this vehicle with Turbo Petrol Engine in INR 20+ lakhs range. IMO they can give up the 4th Gen City. I have seen it abroad & looks way better in black than Toyota CHR.

Japanese have adopted too high handed approach for Indian market & then lament lack of sales & taxes (which are same for all).

Damn that is one sexy looking crossover. 175.6hp from a 1.5 turbo for something thar weighs less than 1.5 ton should make it fun to drive.

This is the car that can reignite the Honda brand in India!! They should just place it right above Safari to make those buyers think twice!
But.. Honda wants to only sell the duds here..

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Only Honda India knows what they are doing, such a good looking car and an excellent rival to the ever growing crop of mid-sized SUVs like the Tucson, Harrier, Hector, Tiguan, etc. What we continue to get is a WR-V with a 1.2L petrol.

Although price of cars are skyrocketing, I couldn’t believe when I saw a i20 N-Line retailing at 14.2 Lakh OTR, just 4 years ago I had got a Creta SX+ petrol AT at the same price.

So an HR-V similarly priced to a Tucson isn’t a bad proposition for Honda India in today’s market scenario. Although I wished the CR-V was available at 30Lakh OTR, they could’ve easily beaten the competition at that price, instead they chose the 40 Lakh market and the rest is history.

Looks good and can be decent success in India:

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

I’m not sure if the HRV actually figures in Honda’s plan for India. Everyone knows that their immediate priority has to be the 10-20 lakh cross over segment. Either a Brezza / Nexon rival or a Creta / Seltos rival or even both. The WRV was always a stop-gap arrangement since it was heavily based on the Jazz, but fortunately for Honda it’s done fairly ok.

The HRV is positioned as a Tucson / Compass rival and the numbers in that segment aren’t all that high. Between the Tucson and Compass we hardly see 1000 cars a month. So if Honda are really thinking right, they would rather focus on the 10-20 lakh cross over segment which can generate volumes as well as margins.

Lastly, I find the HRV’s interiors quite boring, too bland. For a 30+ lakh SUV, it just lacks excitement.

Re: Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India

Honda’s next big launch in the ASEAN region is the new HR-V. ( Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia will get/got this SUV)

Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India-2022hondahrvthailand7e16450921826291200x751.jpg

The third-generation B-segment SUV has already been on sale in Thailand since November last year, but the car arrived solely in e:HEV hybrid form.
The next stop on the tour is Indonesia, and is rumored to be offered with two pure petrol engine options.
Quote:
the base mill will be the naturally-aspirated 1.5 litre DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder from the latest City. No information has been revealed just yet, but expect identical outputs of 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. We also don’t know what transmissions will be on offer, but the previous model was available with either a six-speed manual or a CVT.
Quote:
Replacing the Prestige variant’s 1.8 litre unit is the new 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo (as was hinted at in a previous spyshot), which has been confirmed to produce 178 PS. This is expected to be the same L15BG as the Civic, which also makes 240 Nm from 1,700 to 4,500 rpm. We should point out that this engine is the flex-fuel variant used in Thailand – ours is the more powerful L15B7 mill that churns out 182 PS
Quote:
This engine, which is mated exclusively to a CVT, will reportedly only be offered with the new RS variant. Aside from the bodykit and the chrome pins on the grille, this model is also the only one to come with six airbags (the rest of the range gets four), keyless entry and a seven-inch instrument display.
As with Thailand, however, all variants come with the Honda Sensing suite of active safety features.

Quote:
As for Malaysia, expect to skip the NA engine (we didn’t get the smaller 1.5 litre unit in the outgoing HR-V, either) and go straight to the VTEC Turbo mill with 182 PS – as was hinted at by Honda Malaysia last week.
The company also mentioned an intention to expand its e:HEV lineup, so the car should also get the 131 PS/253 Nm electric motor and a 105 PS/127 Nm 1.5 litre Atkinson-cycle i-VTEC engine sold in Thailand.
Honda India plans are a mystery, and guess HR-V will not make it to India.

Honda HR-V 1.5 i-MMD 2022 an elegant, ecological and balanced urban SUV.

Honda HR-V midsize SUV still being considered for India-hondahrv1.5immd2022advancestyleprueba.jpg

The Japanese model is firmly committed to hybrid technology, maintaining high levels of quality and comfort.

Quote:
the i-MMD hybrid system works its magic, offering an admirable smoothness of operation.
Quote:
the Honda HR-V e:HEV uses a hybrid scheme, composed of an atmospheric gasoline engine, Atkinson cycle, with 1.5 liters of displacement, associated with two electric propellers, which together deliver 131 hp. Next to them, we find an e:CVT unit, which performs the transmission functions and modulates the energy provided by the engines and sent to the front wheels.
Quote:
The end result is good, with a top speed of 170 km/h and maximum acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds.
The official consumption, on the other hand, is 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers.

Honda HR-V Euro NCAP results likely on 17 April: database indicated it was undergoing testing and it has now appeared on Euro NCAP website.
