Didn't you notice the car in the picture of the Times of India article?

The High Security plates are supposed to have a chip that enables tracking via satellite. I don't suppose any of the plates fixed so far have this chip.

Just got a reply from them stating they dont sell HSRP plates. Here is the reply :

Our Home page only says what we are approved to manufacturer and disclaimer says what we are selling or NOT SELLING

Unless State Govt autorizes us we can nnot sell HSRP although we are approved to maufacture the same.

Hope this clarifies your doubt

Thanks n regards

I guess they all look the same but the rest is history and when examined turns out a hoax. One one hand you have the law making it mandatory and on the other you have this jive that makes you want to wait... I mean chip and satellite and bla bla.. its my number plate!

Just order directly from Utsav. They will courier it to you. The cost is Rs.1100 for car plates.

I saw a car sporting the high sec number plate, but at the back it was in the more squarer shape (8"x12" -- my guess). Is that an option? That would be great? The old beetles would look silly with the long thin plate at the back in the middle of the deck-lid. Even the Euro plates can be got in the larger size. CAn someone confirm?
Thanks,
Byas

Well the High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) sizes allowed for motorcycles is 200 x 100 mm (For both Front and Rear) and 285 X 45 (Only for front). These plates will cost around Rs1000/- each for 2-wheelers. Supreme Court has recently given 6 months to Govt. to decide upon its implementation in India.

I'd been to get these plates for my car - Baleno. Apparently they only have two sizes. The rear plates in my car are rectangular in shape with greater height but the Utsav plate is slightly bigger and will not fit. So i had to go for the standard ones used for the front, for the rear too.

I will get them fit tomorrow. Hope there won't be any issues.

On the utsav site it explicitly states that they are not engaged in the sale of HSRP plates, their plates are just smart anti theft plates.

Actually the front and rear plates are the same size. But if you want the rear plate in 2 lines then the size will be different.
