If rumours are true, it is coming with a 2L TSI engine making 190 horses mated to a fast wet clutch DSG with shift by wire and also an independent rear multi-link suspension. Hardly a corporate cookie cutter?

Looks of course are subjective, but in India Octavia has always been a premium car - not really fair to compare middle class of European countries to India!

I am just hoping that all the drive assist comes in the top end. Will make the car a pleasure to drive.

What does 'corporate cookie cutter' mean?

In the international reviews, the ventilated seats are controlled from the infotainment screen. The photos from the opening post seem to show that this option is missing from the India spec Octavia. It will be really disappointing if Skoda deletes such features from a "luxury" car. Don't care about the sunroof, but ventilated seats are a must have in this segment IMHO!
For a car at that price point, ventilated seats are more of a necessity instead of a luxury feature. Hope Skoda does not delete this in the India spec version. I'm having high hopes on Skoda this time.

Re: Scoop Pics! 4th-gen Skoda Octavia showcased in India

Just wondering will the 2.0L TSI be a cheapest most powerful car available below 30L OTR?
Below are some of other cars with similar performance.

Superb/Allspace: 45L, 190ps/320nm
Cooper S : 44L, 190ps/280nm
Q2 : 44L-61L, 190ps/320nm
X1 20i : 47L-51L, 190ps/280nm
220i : 48L-52L, 190ps/280nm
A class 200 : 51L, 160ps/250nm
XC40 : 51L, 190ps/300nm
A4 : 53L-60L, 190ps/320nm
S60 : 58L, 190ps/300nm

One thing I noticed is almost all 30L-65L cars here are available with 2.0L petrol engine with around 200ps and 300nm torque. Not considering RWD or above 200hp segments here because that's a whole different world altogether.

I feel Octavia will be the most value for money, fun to drive, comfortable, feature rich, powerful car you can have within 30L OTR. I just wish they price it sensibly.

Re: Scoop Pics! 4th-gen Skoda Octavia showcased in India

2.0 ltr engine, new gearbox, ventilated seats, virtual cockpit, auto parking and all other bells and whistles from last l&k model.... if all above things are made available in L&K trim and priced below 30L OTR.
This machine is going to set the sedan segment on fire again.

Ps: I might be a potential buyer who wants to switch from 2012 vento

Auto parking is really not much value for 'me'. I am DESPERATE for adaptive cc, and lane assist and emergency braking.

If they don't give this, the only other option will be the xc60. Xc40 has but a bit small.

Any other options that you guys can think of? Want to buy a hatch, notch or suv. Not a sedan.

Maybe the new kodiaq?

The T-Roc might be worth looking at, it doesn't come with ACC but it should be a doable via a mod to activate it. It would need a change of the steering wheel though

These obviously depend a lot on the implementation, but the new XUV supposedly comes with all three:

T-ROC too small for my purposes, and no interest in doing stuff that would [presumably] void the warranty.

Mahindra. No offense but I want something better put together.

Re: Scoop Pics! 4th-gen Skoda Octavia showcased in India

Is the octavia sportline with Awd coming to india?

This car was a gem in all previous generations and will continue to be so in this generation as well. It is the single D1 sedan with aspirational value.

In that case, Volvo is probably the only real option here. The non-India Superb comes with working lane assist systems, but my SA tells me it is disabled in India.

If I remember correctly the last model of L&K in NCR was well over 30L. I can't imagine this being under ~ 33L on road, even though that seems well overpriced.

Here is the last price list of Skoda Octavia from Jan. 2020 in Delhi NCR. So one can guesstimate what the price of the new one would be accordingly. In the upcoming model they have done away with the sunroof in the L&K (A fairly practical decision, based on my personal experience with the 1.8 TSI L&K) to keep the costs down and to be able to pack in improved technology & other excellent drool worthy features. Cheers !

Xc60 is 76 lakhs on road. Still having hopes for the octavia.

No reason for them to disable features. Wonder why? Someone said on this forum that the govt has banned radars, but that's obviously not true. The kodiak as well as all the volvos have radars.
