The new octavia is a fantastic product. Pick Taiguan only if awd is must. Otherwise octavia it should be. If compass was priced a couple of lakhs lower, it would have made sense. If you are okay with Mahindra brand, it is also better to wait for the next gen xuv500. It will be good for self driven/chauffeur driven both.

I agree if the Compass was south of 30, I would have considered it. Not a big fan of the XUV500 so that's definitely not in the consideration set.

I used to own a Polo, it was such a joy to drive, however the VW service centre in Thane was terrible and ruined the ownership experience and I ended up switching cars only to avoid dealing with them. I hope VW/Skoda has improved on this front otherwise this will be another expensive adventure for me .

Volkswagen reveals 2021 Tiguan facelift for India

Volkswagen has revealed the 2021 Tiguan facelift. The 5-seater SUV will be making its return to the Indian market later this year.



The 2021 Tiguan gets a few cosmetic updates which include a redesigned front fascia. The SUV gets sleeker looking twin-pod LED headlights, a redesigned grille and a new front bumper. The rear of the car still features L-shaped tail lamp clusters with the Tiguan lettering in the centre. The SUV rides on new design 18-inch alloy wheels.



On the inside, the Tiguan comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 3-zone automatic climate control which can be controlled using the touchscreen, 8-way power adjustable driver's seat, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and connected car features.



The 2021 Tiguan will be offered with a new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine. In the 7-seater Tiguan Allspace, this engine puts out 187 BHP and 320 Nm. The engine will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

Will be interesting to see if VW provides India-spec map navigation this time round.
IIRC, owners of the Tiguan Allspace had reported European-spec maps as default in their cars, which required lot of effort to make it work for India coverage.

So, the same 2 liter engine will do duty in Tiguan facelift + Tiguan Allspace + Kodiaq?
Since the Tiguan 5-seater will be lighter (maybe 10-15% as compared to Allspace / Kodiaq), am assuming the power to weight ratio will be better for this car, making it peppier to drive around.
And this, will be on top of the 140 bhp number as compared to the previous generation Tiguan.

My first post here. I walked in and test drove the VW Tiguan today here in Riyadh. As all the interior pics are from media posts, I thought my fellow BHPians would be eager to see what's it like inside.

Is that a matt light blue? Looks nice!

If VW can get the price right then it can compete well with the Jeep Compass and Citroen C5 Aircross.

Based on facelift pics that have been shared so far, something feels amiss here specially for the interior pics - the steering wheel seems to be previous-gen, same with the climate control set up. There are no rotary dials in the facelift.

The feature list looks good, however there is no mention of wireless charging and ventilated seats. These features are supposedly being offered on Taigun as well. I wonder why CKD products skimp India specific features such as Ventilated seats on their Indian version products.

Alloy wheel design also could have been better (e.g diamond cut). I really like the design you see on their R line model available globally

Hmm you are right. This was the 2020 model. So the wait continues for the new reveal. But if the new T Roc is anything to go on, I don't expect much change.

driving the 2.0 TSI with DSG though was a pleasure- I hope they keep the same engine and not just the 1.5 TSI. If anything, the wheels just couldn't match the engine's power and torque from my shortish road drive. All wheel drive with terrain response for snow, sand etc - If priced right, it may will edge out the new Jeep Compass AT with its 9speed TC. No contest.

Do we have any drive reviews in team-BHP of the older Tiguan? off road and the like?
