Finally , a serious attempt from Toyota apart from the Innova and Fortuner. They put the Suzuki collaboration to good use. Today's reveal has raised more questions than answering them.

They haven't revealed the combined power output of the engine.

Offering the panoramic sunroof, 360 deg camera is a good move to keep all the bases covered.

Boot space and dimensions could have been revealed to gather more interest and spawn more comparison with the Korean twins.

Are front 2 rows interior dimensions any different than Brezza?

I am trying to wrap my head around its offerings. Is it an elongated Brezza to accommodate hybrid components in boot, thereby resulting not so significantly more boot space. Due to Hybrid we are talking more like a 20 vs 25 kmpl mileage compared to Brezza. Panaromic sunroof, AWD and cooled seats is what stood out so far for a premium of almost 10L (going by speculated 25L price). Is this the case or I am way off in understanding this product?

In this new world where we have been spoilt for interiors by Hyundai, Kia, and even Mahindra for that matter - this unveil is the most bland one ever. It's not invoking any emotion and seems like a built to cost & tick every box kind of car.

Anyone else get this feeling?

The compact SUV will come with a first-in-segment AWD option, albeit only with the mild-hybrid Manual variants.

-Toyota is accepting bookings for the SUV for Rs 25,000.

- Mild-hybrid version to be sold in four trims, strong-hybrid (first-in-segment) to come in three.

- It gets a black and brown cabin theme; mild-hybrid variants get an all-black cabin.

- Expected to be launched in early September with prices starting from Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom onwards).

-The SUV’s mild-hybrid version will be available in four trims (E, S, G, and V) while the strong-hybrid powertrain will be sold in three trims (S, G, and V).

-Toyota will offer the SUV with the choice of 11 exterior shades, including four dual-tone options.

-Its safety kit comprises up to six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, disc brakes all-round, and vehicle stability control (VSC).



- ~ 25km on Pure EV mode , Urban Cruiser Hyryder is capable of running 40 per cent of the distance and 60 per cent of time in electric (EV) or zero emission mode.

- The SUV will be offered with a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty and a 5-year/2.2 lakh km optional extended warranty.

- It will also get 3 years free roadside assistance and an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty on the battery.

After the initial euphoria, I am disappointed by couple things:

1) AWD is only with MT and mild Hybrid. If you want AT or strong hybrid, you can't have AWD.
2) The power and torque figures are really really low for the segment. How will this perform on highways?

I believe AWD AT option will not be on offer initially to avoid the high sticker price.

Saw the unveil, and slightly disappointed by the lack of details divulged during this purely marketing exercise. It’s like Toyota wanted an unveil, before some wise man sent a “scoop” picture. I am told while display cars will be almost immediately available, pricing could be a while away.

Members have gone ballistic on this thread, and goes on to show how a “perceived” great car can do in terms of interest. I am definitely one of them seriously contemplating getting this in the garage.

Kill the fuel cost? - Check
Feel good factors? - Check

I don’t think it’s designed for highways . As the name suggests it’s going to satisfy urban dwellers as it has most of the comfort features and boasts of good FE. Also , it would be growly like the Toyota Yaris cross hybrid . The Yaris is not silent like the Honda city hybrid . One can hear when the ICE engine takes over from the electric motor . But that said have to wait till this can be driven in India .
