Simply sounds too good to be true. I mean if this is indeed the case, take my money NOW!
I was thinking the same, Autocar India has a rendered version of the upcoming Innova on their May 2022 issue. As soon as I said "Wait the Next gen Innova is gonna be a FWD Hybrid!?!?" my dad came over and we discussed the same for a few minutes.

Maybe this is finally the car that could replace our 2011 Innova? We weren't too keen on the Crysta as our Innova was barely 5 years old at that point and we didn't see the point in switching. Even after almost 180,000km and 11 years that Innova is still soldiering on but if this new FWD Hybrid Innova is good enough we might finally make the switch in 2023 with the Innova serving us for 12 years (which is coincidentally how long we had our WagonR for when it was replaced by a Honda City in 2017). If the running costs are lower or even just similar to the outgoing 2.4 Diesel it would be a nice bonus.

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

Even if it is a fwd or a monocoque, not offering a diesel engine is a big disappointment if it is true. While the petrol hybrid could match the efficiency, reliability and maintenance costs, the diesel engine is what gave the Innova and Fortuner a rugged character which I think the petrol cannot match.

Ottomans would be most welcome.
But some of us would prefer a 2nd row bench seat as well.
What has stopped me in going for the current gen Innova Crysta is the lack of a top end + AT + bench seat combo.
It baffles me to no end why this is not available.

Toyota has phased out all diesels from their monocoque vehicles.

All their current diesels are on BoF, longitundinally engine mounted vehicles, and future models also.

With the news that current gen Innova will be sold along with new one to appease masses Toyota seems to have covered all the bases.

I'd like to take another wild guess: The Toyota Rush which many are speculating on YouTube:

If this is true, we might have a rival for XL6 and Carens.

Would very much love the Rush to be launched here. But am afraid it is not.

The Rush is still on an old Daihatsu platform, also the test mules appear way bigger than the Rush or the Avanza. Add to that, The Rush doesn't have a hybrid, nor will it ever get one.

Next-gen FWD 2023 Toyota Innova rumoured to get CVT, ditches MT and 6-speed AT. (Indonesia)

Quote:
the transmission will be offered with two 2.0-litre engines – a conventional petrol unit and a hybrid powertrain. The CVT will be replacing the 6-speed automatic that is available on the current AN140 Innova/Venturer.
Quote:
the manual transmission would also be dropped in the next-generation Innova. In Indonesia, the Innova is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission and is offered in 6 variants with diesel and petrol powerplants.
Quote:
expected that the CVT gearbox could be similar to the one offered in the Voxy for the petrol unit and the e-CVT from the Chinese-market C-HR Hybrid for the upcoming Innova Hybrid (Innova Hycross?).
Engine:

Quote:
predicted it could be from the M20A Dynamic Force straight-four family. If this is true, the third-gen 7-seater could be the first model in the region to introduce the 2.0-litre Dynamic Force unit, petrol or hybrid.
The Toyota Innova is one of the best-selling Toyota models in ASEAN and this next generation could promise a brand-new upscale look for the 7-seater.

Ditch as in ditch the existing Innova transmissions?

Because the CVT part is expected for the M20A engine. Both ICE and hybrid, but why would they leave out the 6spd manual transmission?

I think both manual and CVT transmissions will be offered with the normal ICE version.

If it's a strong hybrid then it makes sense to have eCVT transmission, but not much with weak hybrid, unless I am missing something.

Nice, a Hybrid Innova (Innova Hycross) would be a great addition to Innova's petrol and diesel siblings.

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

Already trademarked in Malaysia, next-gen 2023 TNGA Toyota Innova could be called the Zenix.
In India it could be called" Innova Hycross".

Quote:
The next-gen 2023 Toyota Innova will be completely different from the outgoing Innova which has been around since 2015. Ditching the tried and tested ladder-frame, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) chassis for a modern, monocoque, front-wheel-drive (FWD) set-up, the next-gen Innova might also receive a new name fitting of this revolution.
Quote:
As for the Zenix name being applied for the hybrid variants theory, Toyota also applied the Hycross name in India which sounds like a portmanteau of the name Hybrid Cross
Quote:
However, India also has a unique name for the Innova it is called the Innova Crysta. Perhaps the Hycross name might only be used in India while the Zenix name is used everywhere else.

Zenix's name will appear on the next generation of Innova figures. But don't know if it will be the name of the variant or for others
Quote:
Maybe the name Zenix will be the highest variant or even just for the Hybrid variant, everything is still not too bright
Quote:
The most extreme speculation is to rename Innova to Zenix. But it's still limited to speculation. You can also use the name to become Innova Zenix, as happened there is the naming of Kijang Innova

Outside India, the Innova HyCross will most likely be called Innova Zenix.

After 45 long years the Kijang nameplate is rumoured to be dropped by Toyota for the Innova.
