The engine sounds sooo good at the 3:57 mark where he is overtaking the truck. That alone is tempting me to make a booking of the 1.5 Turbo. :drool:

This video is also giving an idea of how external noises are well controlled inside the cabin.

OMG !!! why did they do this with the almost perfect-looking car?

They could have just updated the interior and some small exterior changes coupled with a good G-NCAP rating, Hyundai might have created record sales.

Correction the Verna gets illuminated switches now. I think they only turn on when the headlamps are on.

Is it only me or others too who feel that the design, especially the front looks dated already. The design of course is not timeless. It will age very quickly unlike Slavia and Virtus which will age gracefully and look fresh for at least next 5 years.

Had a close look at the Verna at a showroom yesterday.

I won't repeat whatever is already stated in this thread. But I would only highlight two important points.

1) The front seats and the overall seating position, ergonomics and everything around you as a driver is laid out fantastically. I specially liked the side bolstering on the seats. Mark my words, no other sedan/CSUV/Pseudo SUV/Proper SUV can give the same kind of feeling and snug fit and ergonomics as this car has.

2) There is an important feature that is not talked much about in this forum ane elsewhere. Its called Crash sensing door unlock (or something on those lines). We have many instances seen how occupants getting trapped inside cars with central locking getting jammed. I believe if the doors can unlock on sensing a crash, this is a much needed safety feature!

I really hope the 4 cylinder TGDi has a good lower end torque and zero/negligible turbo lag. If you have driven the i20 NLine, you would know what I am talking about here. The lag in first gear can get irritating, in an otherwise beautiful engine. I hope Hyundai have worked on this aspect, given its a 4 cylinder unit and completely different from the one in i20/Venue.

I went to the RR Kirad Hyundai, Hadapsar(Pune) showroom to check out the new Verna. Wifey and I, were both mesmerised by the looks of the car! The car, especially the rear looks very sporty. I wanted to check the instrument cluster and the infotainment. The SA promptly said they have removed the battery, so we will not be able to experience this in the display car. I turned on the headlights and they were working! Caught the SA off-guard and told him never to make a fool of a customer.

Hi DCEite - Do you think it is overstated statement if I say that Verna 1.5 Turbo AT is almost equivalent to Elantra / Civic & very close to Octavia in overall terms.

They don't have to be turbo. In other markets Hyundai sells cars with a non-turbo GDi engine called the Smartstream G2.5 GDi.

An hour back I took the test drive of Turbo DCT; oh man the power is insane and brought a smile. The drive was on a no traffic lane behind the showroom and hence I was able to push it. The suspension was hard and later SA showed me in TPMS, all tyres were set at 45+ psi. Waiting for a longer proper test drive once the test drive car is registered.

I am driving Ecosport Ecoboost for more than 9 years now and feel this would be next level upgrade for me in terms of power and features in a budget of 20 Lakhs. Of course I am ok moving to a sedan.

To each his own, but I just can't see how the Verna looks better. The Virtus looks so much better and so mature instead of being over the top, seeking for attention with no continuity or maturity in design.

(Although it would've been better to see the topline Virtus with better headlight DRL module and alloys.)

It might be overstating in my opinion - especially when you compare it to Octavia. The octy is simply on another level!
