Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

The MG website has gone live, finally. - https://www.mgmotor.co.in
Attaching Brochure.

Gotta say, the car is looking absolutely incredible in grey.
Have the wife's approval, however I guess we'll be booking in mid-Feb after closing a few prior engagements.

Definitely aching for the grey over black, something I would have never done before.

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

Visited the showroom to check the car out.

It looks absolutely incredible, esp the interiors. That screen is crisp, bright and has a high resolution. Very minimal lag, can be lived with. The 360 camera is much much improved. Not 4k quality obviously, but looks like a 720p resolution (not sure exactly though)

The grill doesn't look bad - merges seamlessly and doesn't look out of place. The light interiors lend a feel of abundant space inside. Soft-touch material feels upmarket. Shortcut buttons (ventilation, AC max etc) are well done as well.

But it's the screen that will steal all your attention, whichever seat you might be seated on

Also, forgot to mention - Android auto is finally full screen. Gone are the days of landscape Android auto in a portrait screen

Portrait screens are a boon for navigation IMO

The front grill looks more like a crash barrier, god save the opposite party in an impact. Anyways, a family member test drove the Hector but found the high speed ride to be too wallowy, dropped it.

So now there's no Hector plus.
Only variants with 5, 6 or 7 seats, more like the xuv700.
Might work out well for MG as there wont be any changes in exterior design or size. Smart move.

This is for people to say after someone rams you from side, look my indicators are ON. Its your fault
Similar to ones who say "you braked hence I ran into you from behind"

Not sure what is the diesel to petrol ratio that they dont give auto to diesel. The infotainment looks like derived from Mercedes' elegant design. Well done though.

Spoke with my SA. I might be able to get allocation of a white Savvy Pro tomorrow (vehicles have started arriving in the Bengaluru stockyard and deliveries will commence once the pricing is announced)

Hoping to take delivery before 20th

There IS a Hector Plus, as shown by the Plus badging. Just that the differences are to do with the seat layout, badge and the upholstery only. Helps them keep costs down by having the shell essentially the same

The grill is not metal, felt more like plastic, mostly cosmetic. Not sure if it'd lead to any additional danger for pedestrians. Worried about its longevity though

These new interiors look nice but that longitudinally placed touch screen looks pretty odd. May be eyes are used to horizontal ones!

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

Can we choose to disable certain ADAS features? I'm ok with lane keep assist and forward collision warning etc but I definitely don't want Automatic Emergency Braking. I always want braking to be in my control. Is this possible to disable only that?

Re: 2023 MG Hector Facelift : A Close Look

Hi All,

I went with a friend (since he has pre-booked) to see the MG Hector right on launch yesterday and here are my observations:

1. They had a 7 seater configuration with CVT on display and the interiors with the beige tone and large IVI looked amazing. So is the gearbox area. The plastics are soft in a lot of places and overall it gives a very good feel. My son below highly interested in the touchscreen.

2. What the SA told me (from what he knew) was that the beige interiors which looked good was not available on the 5 seater version which my friend is looking at. 5 seater has only the black and white tone and this seems confirmed by the variant list in the brochure. My friend really wanted the beige interiors on the 5 seater.

3. ADAS is only available in the CVT version top variant. (Savvy PRO)

4. The tail gate has buttons to open and close them and my son took a liking for testing it a lot yesterday. It works fine but the panel gap seems more than normal? Is it?

Overall a great car; if I was in the market now, I would have put my money down for buying a comfortable 5 seater. Given that we are large made, the 6 and 7 seater variants are just not for us.

I was just joking looking at the large grill, congrats on your new buy. Do keep posted on ownership experience, particularly on the ride. The family member is still hunting, might ask to take a test drive again.
