Re: What is your car's tank range?

Tata Hexa - 7 kmpl in the city. I bought the car expecting low mileage so no gripes there. But with the tiny(relative to the car size) fuel tank of 60 liters combined with the low mileage, this translates to a range of less than 400km!

Impractical as it may sound, I'm even open to the idea of retrofitting a larger fuel tank from a different car if possible!

Re: What is your car's tank range?

Car & Engine: Honda City 5th gen ZX CVT
Fuel tank size: 40L
City tank range: 550-570kmkm, but I usually fill up at DTE 100km.
Highway tank range: 730-750 odd km since I mostly drive a constant 90-95 speeds. Ensures my trips from BLr - chennai and back without fuel stops 😃

Re: What is your car's tank range?

Great thread. Tank range is super important to me. One of the reasons for me to reject EVs as of now. Lesser fuel stops= more travel time= more convenience.

Car & Engine: Ford Ecosport S TDCI (1.5 Turbo D)
Fuel tank size: 52L
City tank range: For a city mileage (Pune) of 16 kmpl, I get a range of 832 kms. This is stupendous, as I rarely need a refill more than once a month.
Highway tank range: For a cruise of 90-95 kph, I regularly extract 21-22kmpl. With this the tank range is an impressive 1118 kms (21.5 KMPL mileage considered). When hard on gas(read 110-120 kph), still get a FE of 15 kmpl, which translates to 780 kms range. I refuel around 125-150 kms remaining on DTE.

--------------

Car & Engine: Kia Sonet HTX imt (1L Turbo P)
Fuel tank size: 45L
City tank range: Approximately 540km, considering a 12 kmpl.
Highway tank range: For a cruise of 90-95 kph, I regularly extract 17-18kmpl. With this the tank range is a good 788 kms (17.5 KMPL mileage considered). When hard on gas(read 110-120 kph), still get a FE of 13 kmpl, which translates to 585 kms range. I refuel around 125-150 kms remaining on DTE.

Re: What is your car's tank range?

2013 BMW X3 20d
Tank Capacity - 67 Liters
Range (City/Highway Mix) - around 900 kms
I am guessing that the average is around 14-15 km/litre.

Re: What is your car's tank range?

Car: Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI

Tank capacity: 45L i think. Have never put more than 40L though.

City Range: 350-400 kms

Highway range: 500-600 kms based on the roads and my mood.

The only thing I miss vs my Verna is the city range which used to be 500kms easily.

I do almost monthly blr-chn-blr trips and with the Verna I could tank up just before the trip, tank up again in Chennai and then whatever fuel was left would be sufficient for the daily commute until the next Chennai trip.

Now, I need to tank up within a week of coming back to BLR which means I would have visited the petrol bunk 3 times in ~10 days!!

Re: What is your car's tank range?

Car & Engine: Volkswagen Vento TSI Highline+ (1.0 TSI engine, Manual)
Fuel tank size: 55L (and always tanked up till auto-cutoff)
City tank range: 550 - 650 km (depending on right foot )
Highway tank range: 700 - 800 km (I usually tank up once I reach my destination and don't like running the tank dry or till reserve, typically Bangalore / Hyderabad runs have the tank filled at the destination city near home)

XP95 is great.

Re: What is your car's tank range?

Car & Engine: Tiago XZ 2017 1.2L Petrol

Fuel tank size: 35L

City Tank Range: 450-500 km in normal traffic. 350-400 km in bumper to bumper traffic.

Highway Tank Range: 600-700 km. Usually get upwards of 20kmpl on
Mumbai-Pune trips. I am planning a Mumbai-Goa trip and want to try to do it in one single tankful(Fingers crossed).

--------------

Car & Engine: Tiago EV XZ+ Tech Lux

Battery Capacity: 24KWH, although i have read that onlu about 22KWH is usable, don't know how true that is.

City Range: Averaging about 170 km in Mumbai traffic.

Highway Range: Not yet had the chance to get it out on the highway for an intercity trip but on decent open roads with a light foot i should theoritically be able to get between 200-230 km on a single charge.

Re: What is your car's tank range?

2018 Maruti S-Cross 1.3
Typical city: 700 km
Highway and suburban traffic: 850 to 920 km (mostly with 100+ km range left)
Best achieved: 980 km at low fuel warning, 1015 km at fueling refilled 42 out of 48 liter tank

2022 Hyundai Alcazar 1.5D

This car has done mostly subruban and highway traffic only and has been refilled mostly at auto-cut

Typical: 670-750 km with 100-250 km range left
Highest: 827 km with 25 km range left

The car will take a good 10-12 liters beyond auto-cut which has been used only once. The tank range for this run was 870 km with 110 km left, most of the run was done at 115 kph cruise. So its not an efficiency run

Re: What is your car's tank range?

I get about 16 to 17 km. per liter from my Jeep Compass diesel, as per the MID, predominantly on highways.

So, considering a 5 liter safety margin, in a 60 liter fuel tank, the range should be about 880 to 930 kms.

Of course, neither have I gone down to the 5 liter mark nor filled the tank to the brim. I always leave some breathing space.

Re: What is your car's tank range?

Car & Engine: 2016 BMW X5 Xdrive30D (3 Liter Turbo Diesel)

Fuel tank size: 85L

City tank range: 750-900 km
I refuel soon after the alert comes up, and the car almost always takes in 77-80 L of diesel. High variation in range as traffic and weather really affect fuel efficiency a lot.

Highway tank range: 1250+ km if driven at 80 km/h on a nice highway like Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway. Realistically, 1000+ km is easily manageable regardless of where I'm headed.
Have never driven 1000 km in a day so no stats on when I refuel. Just get it back to full (while checking tire pressure) when leaving whichever city we stayed in for the night. For reference: Jaipur-Bikaner, 4/5 days in Bikaner, and then Bikaner-Jaipur is easily done on one tank.
