1st free service for my SX4 at 1000km came for rs.1200 (oil change + filter change).

Repair for denting/painting at right front fender (due to a bike hitting at front right) came for rs.3500. got minot touch-ups done for free anyway.

From the data even after reducing the body work amount from the total, the expenses at the mileage of last service stands at 72 paise per km. That appears very high.

It would be interesting to see the individual bill details if available.

My Marina maintenance at 60000kms was only 49 paise per km.

I would suggest a 'no' for the above two things.

(And i thought it was a free service)
Does the engine oil need to be purchased only from them? Wheel alignment can be done outside, you could have got a wheel balancing done also for that rate.

Scorpio CRDe:25k Service Cost

The 25k service at SKS Automobiles cost me Rs:3050.00. The break up is as under:
Service and Labor Charges: 2500.00
Coolant : 350.00
Misc Bulbs : 50.00
Bumper Beading : 100.00

Total: 3050.00
The Labor alone amounted for more than 80% of the total bill amount.

Well i have the individual bills. In most of the cases the labor costs are a large chunk of the cost. Vitesse is one of the few companies that do not offer a comprehensive AMC. But unfortunately my experience is that these guys are amongst the better service centers in mumbai. Also the parts for the Swift VDI are exp (E.g. the fuel Filter is around 1K)

Do I need to go for Alto LXI fourth service

My Alto LXI has done around 5000 kms till date (Dec 2007 model). I do not use it for regular commute but only for regular weekend outings. I have done two trips to Mysore and Muthathi in the past two years. The car has never left unused for more than 1 week at a stretch.

My fourth (first paid service) was due in Dec 2009. Though the manual mentions fourth service after 2 years, is it still recommended to go for the fourth service considering low usage of the car or can I wait for some more time?

If yes, what aspects I need to get checked during the service? Are oil changes / spark plug changes etc required or are they done irrespective of the number of kilometers the vehicle has run?

You do need to go for the 4th service but since your vehicle doesn't run much, all you should be looking at is Engine Oil& Filter replacement apart from Coolant change if not done before. These are two items that needs to changed whether Kms done or not. I think your Air filter, Spark plugs etc should be fine and you needn't worry about them.

Check engine light was on. They did scanned to find out the error code & charged Rs.550/- for the same. Separate charges for sensor to fix the "check engine" indication

And they suggest to replace air filters every service i.e5K kms. Iam planning to replace the regular one with mushroom filter, but not sure whether customized piping is needed. This will be of one time replacement and costs only twice of what I was charged for regular air filter.
