If the Punto will use the MJD, then what will happen to the Palio SD* ?

So this Mangesh chap uses the term "Swift Diesel" for the MJD ?

No doubt GP will be a rockstar. but can it take away people flocking at Maruti counters for the Swift DDis?
Still there is little effort from Fiat to improve their A*S*S. And its a fact that tata's have one of the worst service centers in India. Should I name a few in Kerala?
Unless and until there is a serious turnaround in After sales service I doubt GP will sell in large numbers even if priced on par with the Swift. Novelty factor will dry down quick and should I need toepeat some cliches about Fiat India?

He used the term1.3 not disclosing whether it is a vgt or fgt. I presume it is the 1.3 and hoping it will be atleast the 1.3vgt as otherwise they would have to kill off the MJD.

An exclusive engine is whats required for the LINEA/Punto

This is exactly what I have been trying to impress upon the FIAT management. Unless they have an exclusive engine like the 1.6vgt for the Linea and Punto its going to be very difficult to voo the Maruti customers who form the majority of the diesel car buying public.
Fiat Bravo: All the strengths of the new 1.6 Multijet 16v engine

We can request, pray, beg, threaten Fiat as much as we want but the fact is that the GP will come with the same engines as the Linea. It may also get the 1.2 petrol to take advantage of the excise benefit and that will make the GP another Palio 1.1 but thats another story altogether. I guess we will have to wait till 2011-2012 for the T-Jet and 1.6 MJD units when the 'all new' GP will be launched.

A date 'at last', and as always 'Sid' is the 'man'. Unfortunately FIAT has missed the 31Mar deadline which is important to claim depreciation benifits for businessmen like me (already booked a LINEA Emotion +).
1.3 MJD is going to give a lot of things on 4 wheels a run for their money !!

4.75L for diesel is on par with Swift LDi. killer price for such a spacious car. Guess they are bringing 75bhp version in direct competition with Swift. is it bye-bye palio then?

That's killer pricing. But what engine does the base petrol model have? I guess it will be 1.2L.

I seriously hope Punto diesel comes with 1.3L VGT. What are they going to gain by plonking 75 bhp version?

The pricing looks great, but at that pricing wouldn't it also affect Vista sales??

if its 4.75L for the diesel then its going to be the 75bhp version. I hope atleast the top end would have the 90bhp engine.

At the specified price point, and with no visible improvements in *** from the Tata Fiat combine, GP and Palio will share whatever sales Palio already has, perhaps also eat into Indica Vista sales as well. After all, how long can novelty keep it going?

With GP available for 4.75L wonder what they would do with Palio MJD..? Looks like they will phase out Palio MJD soon now..
