Thanks

Re: Transfering a vehicle within India: Procedures

Urgent help needed!

I am driving a Karnataka registered (RTO - KA03) car in Kolkata for more than a year and I did not take an NOC from Karnataka RTO when moving to Kolkata as the duration of my stay in Kolkata was uncertain.

Now I want to get an NOC from Karnataka and wish to re-register the vehicle in West Bengal. I have a car loan with SBI Mahadevpura branch, which I will be foreclosing.

I need help with the following queries:

1. Do I have to take the car to Bangalore for obtaining the NOC? I will be going there anyways to close the loan and bank formalities.

2. Do I need to be physically present at the RTO to obtain an NOC? Can I get it done by an agent? If so, kindly share the contacts. My email id is rajibghosh.rg@gmail.com

3.The Karnataka Transport Department website lists ‘Emission Test Certificate’ as one of the documents. I currently have a PUCC from Kolkata which is expiring on 30-Aug-2019. Will that be accepted or do they need one from Karnataka? If that is the scenario, I have no option but to drive the car to Bangalore.

Plan B (will be very sad and unacceptable though.)

I have had a visit to one of their branches in Kolkata and they said they can buy the car, but since I have a loan with SBI in a different city, I will have to close the loan myself first and obtain Form35.

My car was purchased in Jun2016 and I have had no intentions to sell.

Please advise…

Re: Transfering a vehicle within India: Procedures

A possibly stupid question.

I'm buying a PB 10 registered car
I'm living in PB 08
So, in order to get the car transferred to my name, which RTO would I have to go to?
And will I be able to retain the number?
I, needless to say, dont have any address proof in PB10.

1) Ideally PB 08.

2) Yes

3) No worries. you need an address proof for PB 08 and an ID proof

As far as I can logically think, you will have to go to PB10 rto first because it is presently registered there and obtain an noc for transfer. Then you will come to PB08 and give your documents and register in your local RTO. At least that's how it normally works. And no, your reg. number won't change.

Re: Transfering a vehicle within India: Procedures

Hi I am a new guy.

Transferring a motorcycle or vehicle to a different state, and getting re-registered there is called reassignment, maparivahan says so.
It also says, no need to get that done until your vehicle stayes for more than 12 months in the foreign state.

Log on to mlarivahan it has got all information readily available.

Quote:
When a motor vehicle registered in one States has been kept in another State, for a period exceeding twelve months, the owner of the vehicle shall, within such period and in such form containing such particulars as may be prescribed by the Central Government, apply to the registering authority, within whose jurisdiction the vehicle then is, for the assignment of a new registration mark and shall present the certificate of registration to that registering authority.
