I remember my dad used to give me 30 Rs for 4 Lts (7 Rs 50 Paisa per ltr) in his Bajaj Chetak in 1985/1986 when I was in 4th Std. The seat was too high for me to ride. So I used to drag the scooter (Engine Off) to a near by bunk. On Slope I used to jump on the seat and try to balance.. This is how I learned how to ride a scooter (have never use a cycle in childhood). I remember of being punished also few times for damaging the side bonnets because my legs couldn’t reach the ground .. I used to stop near a stair or just drop off the scooter and jump J

Regards,

Karim Bhai

Remember sneaking out and filling my mom's Luna TFR @ Rs 7/L sometime around 1985 (bought in a cold drink bottle, as I was way too young to drive!)

Karim Bhai
I used to "climb down" from the single seat of our Luna, and sit on the frame while making a stop!

I started with somewhere around Rs. 9 per litre in my Yamaha Rx100 in 1989.

I was in Jamshedpur then and the whole month fuel bill was around Rs 70 to 90/-.

US-29 cents per US gallon in mid-nineteen sixties, as per one of my father's friends.
Diesel was around 9 rs/ ltr in Pondicherry about a decade ago.

I bought this black beauty in 2003. It was a first owner car of 1955 vintage- 48 years with the same owner! Had a talk with its first owner often and once while talking about petrol prices, he said that the first time he filled petrol in this car in 1955, he had paid Re 0.53 np per litre. He also said that the prices were stable then for at least 2/3 years and would move north if ever, only by a few paise.Sadly the first owner passed away in 2007 at age 82.

Let's go back in history: What's the cheapest price of Petrol/Diesel that you paid-dsc04970.jpg
