While we wat for Jan 10..

Wish TATA Indicruze will be a replica of the Luxgen7 MPV in terms of the fetures and equipments...

From the original article published by drivearabia.com.

Taiwanese carmaker Yulong, building cars since the 1950s for their own region, has started their international expansion, starting with the Luxgen line of vehicles in the GCC. Their first product here is the Luxgen7 MPV.

The Luxgen7 MPV is a 7-passenger minivan equipped with surprisingly upscale technologies, and the company intends to compete on an entry-level luxury footing with pricing to match regular non-luxury brands.

The top feature is the Luxgen Think+ system, co-developed with smartphone makers HTC, that comes with built-in HSPDA 3.5G communications, GPS Navigation and a 10.2-inch LCD display screen for a comprehensive tech package.

The system also includes the “Eagle View+” 360-degree parking assist which utilises four cameras to provide a real-time visual display of the surrounding environment. The “Side View+” feature automatically displays live video images of the vehicle’s rear blind spot to reduce the chance of an accident during lane changes. The “Night Vision+” high-sensitivity night vision camera system helps illuminate the road and traffic conditions at night beyond the range of the headlamps. “LDWS+” constantly reads the road surface for lane markers and dividers and gives audible and visual warnings when the vehicle veers too close to the lane markings. Overall, the MPV is equipped with 23 advanced ECUs and 8 video cameras to provide these features. Also available are power-opening doors, leather upholstery, rear DVD screen, Bluetooth and more.

The Luxgen7 MPV is powered by a turbocharged-and-intercooled 2.2-litre DOHC 4-cylinder engine. Using a Garrett turbocharger and the a 5-speed automatic, the engine develops 175 hp at 5200 rpm and 275 Nm of torque from 2500 rpm to 4000 rpm.

To improve driving feel, the steering system was tuned by Delphi, noise suppression engineering was handled by LMS, the suspension system was developed by Magna, and the overall chassis tuning was done by both Magma and Prodrive. It has been tested to be able to achieve a 4-star EuroNCAP crash rating.

Following the Luxgen7 MPV, other models that will become available during next year include the Luxgen7 CEO ultra-luxury minivan, the Luxgen7 SUV luxury 4×4 and the Luxgen EV+ electric minivan. Dealers in all GCC countries are yet to be announced, but the cars will make an appearance at the 2009 Dubai Motor Show.

Guys I do not think that this Indicruze will be priced lower than 10 lacks simply because current range of their products (SUV/MUV/MPV) sell from 5-11 lacks. for e.g. Sumo victa (5.1 lacs - 7 lacs); Sumo Grande MK-II (6.4 lacs - 7.5 lacs) and Safari Dicor (7.7 lacs - 11.6 lacs)- All prices ex-showroom, Pune. I do not feel that they want a new product in the same price range which will divert the sell of their own (established !) vehicles. Other than that TATA has recently launched Grande MK-II for direct competition to M&M's Xylo so they are in no mood to stop production of Grande series.
New Indicruze with loaded features will be available with price tag of 10-14 lacs with competition (?) to Hyundai tuckson (17 lacs-ex-showroom Mumbai); Ford Endeavour (18 lacs-ex-showroom Delhi) etc.
May be TATA wants to fill the gap between 10-11 lacs (read Innova) and 17 lacs (read tuckson) and creat a new market segment just like Nano (1-2 lacs) did. I really do not see any market demand for SUV/MPV/MUV type vehicles between 18-30 lacs (30 lacs onwards again TATA in the form of Land-Rover has a presence in the market). Again presence of Audi (Q5 - 38 lacs onwards), BMW (X3 - 27 lacs onwards) etc. will be taken care by Land-Rover series.
People who can afford innova can put some more money (may be 2-3 lacs) and can go for TATA Indicruze (only if Indicruze is worth it-which is very very IMPORTANT).

14 days to go...

With Tata Nano winning ICOTY (and quite deservedly) and Manza changing dynamics of entry level and mid-level sedans, This launch will cap some wonderful months for TATA MOTORS.

If reports are to be believed, TATA is already gearing up for new Safari (hopefully with same price tag of 7.7-11.6 lacs) so then there is no point is bracketing Indicruze in the same range of Safari evenif safari is tagged as SUV and Indicruze tagged as MPV or MUV. Since how many Safari owner's really make use of SUV features? Mostly Safari is used as a statement (and as a family-friends vehicle).
The word crossover might mean that crossover between Innova/xylo (kind of middle-higher middle class family MUV/MPV) and Tuckson/Endevour (kind of Luxury SUV/MPV)??

We must appreciate the tight lip and least infomation leak on Indicruze especially the interiors info has been kept so much a secret by TATA.

Hopefully when the curtain raises we get a pleasant surprise from TATA with the quality and the execution of interiors on Indicruze that live upto hype and expectations in true international standards.

I some how tend to feel Indicruze may come with an A/T box in its top variant.

Also keen to know their upgradation on the Safari. I sincerely pray that TATA doesnot give the Safari with Grande MKii level touch up. It would be nice to see they provide ABS on Safari right from LX variant and 4x4 option on all its variants.

Those who have seen the Indicruz without camouflage, they should create a new account and tell us how close to the truth are these pictures, especially the headlamps ?

The car design is very disappointment, because the big indica vista, nothing more special. Side look copy from Innova

By that yardstick, all Volkswagens, BMWs and Mercs specially should be very boring.

This is called "Family Look". By the way, the scorpio, xylo and gio all share the same family ugliness

Am I the only one here who hates how the 3rd row window's shape.
Are they trying to copy the CRV's design? I didn't like it in the CRV either.

How about the back profile? Can't believe they have the manza(chrome) bar at the back. Is it there for real?
