Since I dont expect this to have too many electronic gadgets, I feel this should be reliable. After all, its a shrinked Xylo and we have not heard too many issues about the Xylo either.

Bolero costing 10 lacs i dont think even bolero storm ( 97bhp variant) top end would touch 10 lacs anywhere.

IIRC bolero top end should max out at 8lacs

oops my bad - i would say 8 lacs OTR price. Mini Xylo should be around 6.5-7 lacs OTR, provided the figures quoted by Autocar is correct.

Approximately speaking Bolero range starts around 6.5L and goes no till 8L.
How will they position Bolero once Mini xylo is launched in range mentioned by you.

Assuming mini xylo is coming with 100bhp engine , why would anyone buy a outdated platform, oldish engine ( 63bhp ) if you are getting a more powerfull engine ( hopefully should have better torque figures than bolero ) , bigger and more comfortable vehicle with same seating capacity in Mini Xylo

M&M will have to think hard since Bolero easily does more than 7-8K units per month on consistent basis.

Mini Xylo is a 5 seater MUV(practical 5 seater) whereas Bolero is a fully functional 7 seater SUV.

Bolero is a goldmine for Mahindra and am sure they will not touch it.

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

A 100 Bhp diesel car starting at 4.5 Lakhs ex-showroom
It will scare the living daylights out of hatchbacks. If Mahindra manages to keep the dynamics of the car well rounded and provides decent interiors that dont look cheap, then rear jump seats or no jump seats this is going to set the market on fire.

If this turns out true, I ll really turn into a Mahindra fan. Look at their arsenal, a rugged SUV which sells like hot cakes, yet another SUV for the urban market, a spacious seven seater, a rockstar SUV that provides almost similar value as many of its counterparts on the other side of 20 Lakhs do. Now a compact MUV bang in the Hatchback zone providing a utility unmatched before at this price range. If this gets launched starting at 4.5 lakhs ex-showroom, I would consider it to be more game changing than the Ertiga launch. The Ertiga may have seven seats, but the diesel is priced almost 3 lakhs more than the speculated 4.5 of the mini xylo.

Taking the fight upto the opponent. Match my price if you can, I m providing an MUV at the price of a small car.

Only if I could somehow digest the looks of the Mini Xylo

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

A member from another forum has stated the following "confirmed" reports which were told to him by some M&M staff -

* Compact Xylo may launch on 2 Oct
* Confirmed M-Hawk 3 Cylinder 1.5 L - 100 bhp Engine
* 4.5 lacs onwards.
* USP of car will be VFM, High Ground Clearance, 5+2 Spring fold Jump Seats, rear seat fully foldable and plenty of space for 5 Seating. Interior identical to existing Xylo.

I personally doubt the "2nd Oct" claim though.

This is interesting. In fact i had the same question in mind. Would the same features like voice activation controls & other features on Xylo E9 be carried over be carried over to the Mini Xylo as well ? I am eagerly waiting for this.

I dont think we will get all these features in the mini Xylo. Infact, I would be very happy if they cover the basics on the top end variant, that is - power windows, power steering, rear wiper with washer, alloys, music system with BT and USB, ABS & 2 Airbags. Anything more is bonus!

The same person from another forum also adds -

* Weight of 3 Cyl 1.5L mHawk is 160-180 kg compared to the 220 kg mHawk 2.2L
* 3 Cylinder is bi-Turbo.
* Dry weight of the car is more than 1000KG.
* Car has been tested for the last 2 Years
* Expected mileage : 15 KMPL

Actually I like the profile! Resembles a grown wagon-R. I do not see any disproportionate dimensions here. For me MANZA's boot looks disproportionate!

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Thats a fantastic share sarthak . 240 NM torque is more than what is made by the xylo engine. This is indeed a great news. The torque/weight ratio would be more than the duster .If this engine turns out to be reliable, we may see it making way into the Bolero even.

Thanks for sharing that. This seems to be a Mahindra confidential document. From where did you get that? Anyways this engine looks too good to be true. Let me play the devil's advocate. On paper it does have impressive figures, but on road will this engine perform? Also the document does not mention anything about how the vibrations would be controlled in this 3 potter. Twin turbocharger sounds music to ears, but what would be its reliability?

The document is indeed confidential, I think you should upload it elsewhere (rapidshare etc) and provide a link here.

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

1.5, 3-cylinder diesel engine was much expected for this sub-4 metre long car.

But twin-turbo & 100PS for such a car is more of a daylight dreaming, whatever the reports say. Atleast my fingers are crossed till its launch.

If its really true, Than sharing the 100PS engine with the Verito sedan can't be completely ruled out in near future to save out few additional bucks for in-house developed engine.
