Ah! Finally some more takers for the 'size doesn't matter' approach! Think Yeti Himanshu and you won't be disappointed I can tell you!

Re: Your Next Car?

Honda City Corporate.

Then either the Ecosport or the Fiesta hatch, if it comes to India.

A Punto 1.4 for sure, preferably a T-Jet if Fiat decides to launch one. Please FIAT!

A punto T Jet would be tempting

From the Vento, I don't think I want to move up a size (D/Lux size) in Sedans, though an Suv might change my decision if they really drop prices.

The Q1 sounds good. Though what I really want is a porsche :-D

Re: Your Next Car?

With my growing family, I'm looking at MPVs. My requirements are:

Strictly buy diesel cars as I love diesel engines (So the petrol/diesel cost offset chart goes out of the window).

A good highway cruiser as I do a lot of highway driving. Did I mention cruising? Yes, I don't think Indian highways are ready to take "autobahn" speeds just yet. The max I do is 100-110. Of course, off-roading isn't my cuppa tea.

Love the space MPVs offer compared to any other body style. Graduating to an MPV sounds ideal to me.

The contenders:

Toyota Innova and Suzuki Ertiga.

Innova
+ Love the space, the captain seats on the 7 seater and 3 row AC.
- Not a big fan of the outside looks and age old antenna. Also the engine could do with more bhp. Tacky looking dash.

Ertiga
+ Love the looks, dash and MSIL reliability.
- Legroom not as good as Innova and the 1.3 DDiS for an MPV is a bit of a stretch I reckon.

Re: Your Next Car?

Honda Jazz or an Ertiga.
Seriously considering a MPV because of my twin kids. Luggage problem is starting to bug us even on normal within city trips :-/.

Re: Your Next Car?

If all goes well, a black Honda Brio S(o) MT with 15" bronze-wheels wearing 195/55 tyres, breathing through a CAI and farting through a FFE.

I've mentioned this in three other threads, already!

Re: Your Next Car?

I will buy a small car for use within the city by the end of this year.
Thinking about used Jazz . I am very much impressed by its interiors and space. I felt it to be better than City.

Re: Your Next Car?

My parents want an Automatic transmission in their next car when they plan to upgrade this year.
My first preference is the Honda Jazz, hoping that they launch an Automatic version soon. Have tried contacting them regarding the same but have not been able to get any info about the Automatic launch. Does anyone have any info?
The next option we would consider is either the Skoda Rapid (Automatic) or Hyundai Verna (Automatic).

There is no talk of an AT Jazz. Looking at the delayed production as on date I dont think it woild be areality at least in the next 2 years.

Since I see that a petrol AT is fine for your parents, why dont u look at the Honda City? IMO its the best petrol AT sedan in terms of even fuel economy and also resale.

Re: Your Next Car?

My next purchase will be after 3 years. Hopefully by then,Range Rover Evoque would be manufactured in India, and the price would be within my budget, and i would love to own that car. If not, atleast a SUV in the size of Yeti/Outlander,but should be diesel and an AT.

It is going to be Ertiga. Only catch is Maruti's pricing. Hopefully the price of ZDi is around 10 lakhs OTR Bangalore.

Re: Your Next Car?

I am sure it will be an automatic. It could be a small petrol hatchback or a diesel SUV....but it must be an automatic !!! Also it needs to compliment my existing petrol geared Octavia sedan.

Re: Your Next Car?

Ertiga if priced sensibly (i.e. ABS + Airbag + Mjet < Rs 8 Lakh Ex Show room). Else it would be Safari Storme if they offer 4x4 in LX variant. If not than I will be forced to have a hard look at Scorpio 4x4 lowest variant :-(. I hate to be in that position as I don't like Scorpio's look at all. It has a face with running nose :-(.

There's a lot to like about the Jazz. It's not that far off from the City to be honest, but I do feel that the City is worth a small premium over the Jazz, particularly if you do a lot of airport runs and need tons of boot space. On the whole though, the Jazz is about 85% of the City for about 70% of the price. Not a bad deal at all to pick up a used Jazz, that's considering it has been well maintained and loved!

The Hyundai AT transmissions up until now have been extremely primitive. Don't go for the Verna, not worth the premium over a Rapid AT unless you go ga-ga at the sight of that long feature list. I agree with CtrlAltDel when he says...

This is a very fair statement to make. The City is one of the best, if not the best, petrol sedans money can buy at the moment. Definitely consider it, the car is sublime to own and drive.

Now...coming to moi! I definitely am not ready to switch my next car to anything less than a C Segment sedan, and I am actively considering used premium sedans (Passats, 3 series, et al) for my next buy. Frankly, I love the look of the 508 and I'm very curious to see what kind of an offering it will be, even if I would have to buy a brand new one. The timing is right too, since it's going to be launched by about end 2013 (correct me if I'm wrong).

Petrol or Diesel is not a dealbreaker, although I would lean towards diesels. Space and refinement is an absolute dealbreaker. Manual or automatic will not be a dealbreaker either, but most cars in that bracket happen to be automatics, so my decision is made on that front for me.

Frankly, I love the (current gen) Civic a lot. Make the next gen Civic as good and you have one buyer right here Honda! Plonk a diesel heart into it and that will most likely seal the deal in favor of a Civic for me!
