Thank you.
No way! Believe it or not, a 2002 sonata automatic petrol, absolute mint condition, single owner used with about 65k on the odo went for 1.3 lakhs.
The 2005 embera if it's a diesel should not be asked for more than 2- 2.20.

BTW,how much is the seller quoting?

4.7 is the market rate which is a fair deal for the buyer as well as seller. We have a recent 2007 Civic AT Mumbai registered for 4.5 from a dealer whose review is up the relevant section by a bhpian. Its not a steal because Civics are available in plenty at similar rates in the market.

How safe is to buy a car in a different state and drive it in Delhi? Just came across a deal for a 2010 Fortuner registered in Assam, located in Kolkata, odo @ 8000 kms going for 14L. Most fortuners are available at around 17-18L with 30-40k kms done. Does the deal sounds good or should I stay away?

I don't think Traffic cops stop outstation number cars in Delhi.

Hello Mohit,
As the saying goes“If it‘s too good to be true, it probably is!!!“
There is something fishy here. I have 3 doubts:~

~ A 2010 Fortuner done just 8000 kms in 2.5~3 years. That‘s way too low. The odo might be tampeted.Check full service history from 2010.

~14L is too low for a Fortuner. It might be a total loss vehicle, which has been refurbished. Check for claims in insurance of all the past years. The accumulated NCB should be around 30%,if I‘m not mistaken. Insurance gurus please confirm.

~ It might be a stolen car. Ask for NOC From Assam RTO.

If all is well, then dont wait & grab it ASAP.

Hop this helps,
Varin

Driving with an outstation registered car in delhi is not a prooblem. All my cars are CH or HR and I am in delhi 5 days a week. Never been stopped or any other problem.Coming to the car itself , I would do a thorough checkup of the vehicle. Toyotas hold their value very well and a 2010 fortuner will be nowhere as cheap as the price you getting. My hunch , its a refurbished car that was written as a total loss.

@VINU - I have the sonata transform crdi A/T and have covered over 70,000 kms in it. The car is an absolute joy with no unexpected problems and requires regular service like any other jap car. If its a diesel bargain harder since 2 models have come after the embera. A clean diesel should cost you between 3.5 and 3.74. If its a petrol nothing more than 2.75 - 3.25. Slightly variable depending up the transmission.

Probably yes. So what was the final verdict in your office? Did anyone pursue the car?

.
Yes Delhi police does not stop cars generally. The best way to be sure of the car being clean would be to take it to Toyota showroom itself right and get it checked?

BTW whats the procedure for converting the car to a DL registration? I think there was a thread on the same but haven't been able to locate it.

Just finalised a deal for feb 2008 alto lxi tomato red, with cng kit, central locking, pioneer hu, body coloured bumpers for 1,92,000 rs. The car is very well maintained.

I think I'm paying about 10k extra, but keeping the car condition in mind, I feel it's a good deal.
What say?

>1 lac kms, so about 30-40k kms juice left in the engine. (if cng then the car is on it's last stretch)

Would suggest to pay a little more and get a car with 50-70k kms on the odo.

Hello saurabhkum,

A close friend of mine bought a 2nd owner, 53k run, red s-at in pristine condition for 3.75L 2 months ago. As, you mentioned, the one you are eyeing has some rust as well, so, either quote between 3.5-3.75L or hunt for another specimen.

You might get a well maintained one for a little over 4L. So, dump this one and look at another vehicle unless, you are absolutely sure that this vehicle was kept well . All the best.

Hello Yogesh,
Rather than the figure on the odo, check the health of the car. As the Baleno is a long discontinued car, anywhere between 1.1-1.3L, seems like a fair price.
BTW, how much is the seller quoting?

Varun
