Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I am looking to urgently buy a Thar Petrol Automatic in Pune (MH12).

What would be a reasonable price for a 2023/24 model, single owner, 15k km, RWD?

Also, if anyone is selling their well cared for Thar, low mileage, please let me know as I am looking to close a deal immediately.

Thanks!

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

2022 Honda City V CVT @ 9L

Does this price ok for this 2022 City V CVT? Took the car to nearby Honda SC and found out that no major accidents, but both front and rear windshields are changed. Also rear left ,front passenger doors and rear quarter panel had some touch ups along with rear right door glass is also replaced.

Car drivers well and mechanically it is fine and structurally also it is good. But, all these touch ups raise a lot of suspicion. Is it worth pursuing because the price is low compared to anywhere else!

Please don't touch it even with a barge pole. May be not "major accidents, but this car has definitely encountered "minor accidents" without a doubt, otherwise why would one change both front and rear windshields. Also, the touch ups indicate that something must have happened to this car. I had burnt my fingers by going for a used car (Details in this thread --> https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-...khorse-22.html (Toyota Innova: My Pre-worshipped Black Workhorse)).

Not to discourage you from going for used cars, but if the complete car history is not known or if you don't know the owner of the car and it is not clarified to you why those windshield replacements and touch ups were done, then better stay away from this car.

The car is priced low due to these reasons only. Check the insurance history, or if these were changed under insurance. There may be a multitude of reasons why the windshields have been changed, and there are touchups around the car.

Moreover, a lowball price for a car is surely not without reason, and that is why I would advise you to stay away.

There’s something off about the car overall; apart from all the dings, the wheels are from an Amaze/ 4thgen City.
Spinny inflates prices like mad but this is too realistically priced (list price) so they are also aware there’s something off .

I have gone through the service history at Honda Service Center and all the services so far has been done at Honda ASCs only. But my only concern was why both windshields were replaced. So I informed Cars24 to check the history with the current owner and once I find it okay, that I might think about it.

The problem is that. Except in Cars24, I don't see realistic prices anywhere, even dealers quote huge money for 70k run 2020 City V models. I mean, for some reason, depreciation for these cars works opposite. The older and more kms means more money!

Anyways decided to look for other options. Lets see how it goes. Thanks for all your inputs and suggestions. And @rayjaycleoful I didn't know tires are from Amaze/4th gen City. That sure is mysterious!

Weird! I raised the same to Sales Advisor yesterday and he said spare key is available. Anyways, after too many red flags I don't think I will go with it.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

2016 Honda City SV MT @ 5.9L

Does this price ok for this 2016 City SV MT? Haven't taken the car to Honda ASC but checked the service records and find some basic repairs like front bumper repair and some minor issues.

Car drivers well and structurally also it is good. I find the engine noise a bit coarse, but no drop in pickup or the acceleration. There is a slight rattling in dashboard and squeak in driver seat, which Cars24 said they will fix before handover.

Is it worth considering? Shall I get it checked at Honda ASC? The plan is to use the car for 2-3 years and sell it off. Not going to keep it for more than that. Please suggest!

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

How many kilometers has this Honda City covered? CARS24 operates on a minimum 25-30% profit margin, but they don't reduce their price much. Check if the insurance is valid or expired, because they give only third-party insurance as a compliment. So they may have procured this car for 4.3 to 4.5 lakhs; you can expect 2.8 to 3.2 lakhs after one or two years.

This is a bit too overpriced in my opinion, anything between 5.00 lakhs to 5.50 lakhs would have been a good price if the car was in mint condition with no replacements or issues.

Car has run 63k, insurance is expired and needs renewal. The car was listed for 6.2L few days ago and now reduced to 5.9L. As per Cars24 SA, for every month the car is with them, algorithm will reduce price ranging from 10k to 40k depending upon various factors.

I'm fine with ~3L after 2-3 years. I just want to enjoy the manual city before I finally get a Automatic car. At 39 years old, I feel this is the time to enjoy manual NA cars.

Had similar thought. I don't find any decently priced Honda City in used car markets. If I wait for this car for another 2 months, price will come down to 5.5L easily. Guess I will play the waiting game!

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hi,
Need advice from team. I own 2014 Global fiesta 1.5D titanium model with 1.05 lakh kms. Last month I replaced front shock absorbers, timing belt and other routine maintenance parts as per manual. Now, i believe and am sure my car can easily run for another 30-40k kms without any troubles.

I simply love my fiesta and don't want to part ways with her. But again itch of buying new cars after 11 years with fiesta is increasing. Till now fiesta has been 100% reliable for me and never left me disappointed.
How much can I expect for my car? If it's peanuts then I believe I should keep it forever. Since I don't know much about used car market, so asking the experts.

Thanks

My cousin has a late 2022 Nexon XZ+ done around 26K in Mumbai. What is a reasonable sale price that one should expect.

I’ve got a 2010 SX4 petrol in mint condition—built like a tank, drives like a dream. Tried selling it, but the offers? Might as well trade it for a samosa and chai.

So here’s what I figured: keep it. It’s not worth letting go of a solid car for peanuts.

Now, your 2014 Fiesta? Pretty much in the same boat. Unless someone offers real cash, you’re better off holding onto it and going for that shiny new ride.
If you’ve got parking space, switching cars is a whole vibe—retro rugged one day, techy sleek the next.
