I would say those ranges are extremely optimistic. The market doesn't value cars run 200k very well and for good reason that most owners simply don't spend on the required upkeep.
It is better selling on Spinny than at the amounts you have quoted, even Spinny quotes much better than your prices, for cars in excellent condition.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hi all,

I am planning to buy a 2013 Honda Brio AT, which has run 47,000 km, directly from the owner. He has quoted ₹2.29 lakh for the car. Given that it’s 12 years old, I wanted to check if this price is fair.

Also, if I go ahead with the purchase, what preventive maintenance should I do immediately? Are there any known issues with the automatic transmission in the Brio that I should be aware of?

Would appreciate your insights and advice. Thanks in advance!

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hello all, lately I'm thinking of moving to automatic car. So, I will have to sell my current car, can you please help me understand the fair price for the below car?

1. XUV700 MX diesel.
2. 2022 model, KA registered
3. Ran 18,000 Kms, mostly on highways. I do full WFH.
4 Many accessories fitted, like seat covers, LED lights, sound deadening to doors, fog lamps, dash cam, reverse cam, floor mats, wheel covers etc.
5. Did all services timely, at Mahindra service center in bangalore.
6. Taken extended warranty.
7. Fancy number, 1199

Currently the same car is costlng around 18.5-19 lakhs on road Bangalore. Though I love this car very much and hard to depart, my left knee wants some rest.

Thank you for the help.

The price of ₹2.29 lakh for a 2013 Honda Brio AT with 47,000 km on the odometer seems reasonable, but it depends on the car's condition and market trends in your region. Based on similar listings, prices for this model typically range between ₹2.5 lakh and ₹3 lakh. If the car is well-maintained and has a clean service history, the quoted price could be a fair deal.

Preventive Maintenance
If you decide to purchase the car, here are some immediate maintenance steps to consider:
1. Engine Oil and Filters: Replace the engine oil, oil filter, and air filter to ensure optimal performance.

2. Transmission Fluid: Check and replace the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) if it hasn't been done recently.

3. Brake System: Inspect the brake pads, discs, and fluid levels. Replace if necessary.

4. Battery: Test the battery's health and replace it if it's nearing the end of its life.

5. Tyres: Check the condition and tread depth of the tyres. Replace them if they're worn out.

6. Suspension and Steering: Inspect for any wear or damage in the suspension and steering components.

7. Coolant and Belts: Ensure the coolant is topped up and inspect the drive belts for wear.

Known Issues with the Automatic Transmission
The Honda Brio AT uses a torque converter automatic transmission, which is generally reliable. However, some owners have reported Hesitation or Jerky Shifts which can occur if the transmission fluid is old or low.

To avoid this, ensure the transmission has been serviced as per the manufacturer's recommendations. A test drive can also help you identify any unusual behaviour in the transmission.

If everything checks out, the Brio AT can be a great city car with its compact size and smooth automatic gearbox.

Considering the car is two years old, you should get around 14 lakhs for the car, if not more considering the addons, extended warranty, accessories etc. Moreover, it is from Karnataka, so the used cars generally sell for a good value there.

Thank you for the inputs, its 3 years old not 2 years. So, I was expecting around 13.75 to 14 but want to create an ad for 14.4 to give some scope for negotiations. If I do not get good price, then I'm planning to keep it for another few years.

Sorry for the mistake, I meant 3, still living in 2024, Yes, quoting slightly above your expected price is always best to leave scope for negotiation, I wish you the best of luck in finding a buyer!

Ideally your car is too new to sell, You are losing almost 5 lakhs for two years, and it has borne a major part of the depreciation, ideally 5 to 7 years would be a good time to sell, and you would still get over 60% of the price you paid by that time, with some cars especially good movers and SUVs retaining their value much longer.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Since your XUV700 is a 5-seater variant, the market price will be around ₹13 lakhs. If you are selling to Spinny or CARS24, they will quote ₹12 to 12.5 lakhs.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Sold our 2007 Swift 1.3P ZXi via Olx for ₹1.65 lakhs (had quoted ₹1.75L to have scope for negotiation). Dad got a Comet EV making the Swift redundant. Posting here in case it helps anyone buying/selling similar car.

Single owner, well-maintained, neat exterior & interior, done only 54K kms, FC valid till 2027, full front suspension was replaced few months ago for ₹20K. Tyres had tread for 5K kms+, but are like 10years old. After suspension work was done, the ABS & brakeLight always remain lit.

Ignore Spinny & such. They are just using the duplicate-RC to drive down the price. Check Olx for prices quoted by others for same car & trim level as yours. Based on your car’s condition, running, single-owner status etc, arrive at a price you think is right, add 20-30K for negotiations. Then post an advt on Olx, clearly listing all the +ves of the car in detail & you will get serious buyers.

That’s what I did for our above mentioned Swift - 3 guys came to see it & all 3 loved/wanted it - sold to the guy who confirmed & paid first. Did the online transfer via Parivahan portal in few minutes & then handed over the car.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hi, what should be a good price for a single owner, 81K Km run facelifted July 2014 Global Fiesta Titanium (TDCI MT), provided the condition is great?

The dealer has quoted 3.5L, which is slightly negotiable. I plan to visit the dealership tomorrow.

3.5 Lakh is a bit too overpriced, 2.75 lakh to 3 lakh would be a good price, considering the car wasn't popular when new and still isn't popular in the used car market.

The dealer has procured the vehicle for about ₹2.2 - 2.4 lakhs, so his profit margin is almost 50% on this car.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

What is a decent price for a Polo 1.0 TSI Highline AT bought in Novermber 2020, is owned by first owner and has been serviced regularly? I have not seen the service history yet though.

The owner has mentioned that front bumper has been replaced. How big a red flag is this?

Without the information of how many kilometres it has run, it is quite difficult to quantify a price. Moreover, do check the service, and accident history of the vehicle thoroughly and get it inspected by a mechanic as well before deciding how much you are going to pay for it.
