Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

My vote goes for the Toyota Etios. The middle class finally has the Toyota reliability within range. It makes enormous practical sense for the common man. I am glad to see Toyota price their offering well.
On a personal note, it doesn't excite me at all.

As with everyone else, I feel the Figo is just as deserving of the top spot. It has really spun around fortunes for Ford.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

My vote would have been to TATA ARIA, had it would have been more VFM.
It eventually voted for Skoda Yeti. Its a great package overall. It would be interesting to see long term ownership reviews of both Aria and Yeti.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

I opted by TATA ARIA. It is a bold move from TATA and the end product is also very UN-TATA. I don't think ARIA will win but it is a great effort from TATA.

However, it is a tough decision to choose one from Toyota Etios, Ford Figo and TATA Aria.

Voted for Polo(1.6 though), although Figo seems to be cruising!

I voted for the Ford Figo. The Toyota Etios can wait till next year, difficult to vote for something that hasn't been seen on roads yet.

I voted for the Aria . The new breed .
Its a brave and major step up for Tata and I am impressed with what I see .

The other cars in my mind were the Vento and Thar .

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

I voted for Ford Figo .It is the product which has changed the fortunes of Ford and brought it to position of reckoning from sidelines .It bought new meaning for the Term Value for Money.
It has changed Dynamics of Indian Market.

Other products are not ground breaking as such and neither of them has changed a company's perception and fortune so much as Ford Figo

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

For me it is the VW Polo. India finally got a world class hatch which looks a perfect 10 and we got it just the way the world has it.

The figo is more VFM but the Polo takes the cake for me.

I agree with you fully on the Polo and I just booked it. I am also surprised the petrolheads and dieselheads of team-bhp are voting in large numbers for Figo which is for sure a VFM, but not known for its performance capabilities.

The Figo Diesel is a great car. The engine pulls cleanly without any turbolag. It is a 4 cyllinder mill unlike the 3 cyllinder engines in the Polo & Micra. It also offeres great safety features, has a good suspension, a very direct steering and large boot space.

My vote goes to Figo and I have put my money where my mouth is by buying a Figo Titanium TDCI.

In the end, I have to pick the Figo...Ford pulled off a master-class move in the hatchback segment. Evidently, the market seems to agree too.

No doubt Figo is a overall best car.. They did a robust testing, fitted right motor, decent audio, big boot, top class a/c, top safety features under 6 lac (at time of launch OTR of TDCi - Titanium in Coimbatore was 5.96L ) and reaping the reward now after almost a year (GTO test review was on 25th Jan last year).
But... Ford's poor technical knowledge transfer to Service centres about this new car, No change in Service centre attitude will surely have a negative impact in the longer run. I do not say as an affected customer, but high volume sales can make Ford to get carried away now and feel after sometime if they sense decline in sales as 2011 is also going to be crowded with new launches.

Offcourse I voted for Figo..

Voted for Figo. This is also the most successful new launch of the year discounting wagonR which I cannot stand a stare.

Voted for VW Polo, A stunning car with good options for the Indian buyer, A 1.2, 1.6 petrol and a diesel. All needs addressed. Only wish and hope the service support is adequately provided for the pondering customer over VW products. None the less a fabulous all rounder the POLO is.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Voted for Ford Figo, as not only is it a great car, but Ford had the capacity to keep up the production in line with the demand unlike the VW Launches. Plus the personal experience says Ford dealers are better than VW.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Voted for the BMW X1. I understand that the vento and the Figo make excellent cases for themselves however I feel in its segment the X1 will certainly change the rules a little bit. The badge and the pedigree will for sure make other manufacturers sit and up offer better features and service for their vehicles and hopefully bring down the prices which I think are a bit inflated at the moment - strictly going on the level of equipment they offer for that price. Also very brave of BMW to enter this segment and play the price game. Interesting segment to watch out for.
