Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Purely from a mass market perspective the Figo is the true choice but for me the Skoda Yeti is the car of the year simply because of a new segment which it has created a "Premium Compact SUV"

Voted for Vento, great value for money according to me. The specs meets the requirements of enthusiast and the family (Diesel). Good to drive in the city as well as the on the high way. A good German car for a good price.

Polo.

I voted for the car, not for the company, which I think is making a very poor show of its attempt to enter this market.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Considering the average Indian buyer, I voted for the Figo.

Would love to take a test drive of the BMW and Yeti before I comment!

About Etios, although it has been released in 2010, it will be available for sale only in 2011 right? So, should it be included?

Polo is my choice. Though Figo was on my mind, due to few missing goodies, it's next to Polo.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Though I own a Polo and love it very much, I have voted for the Vento since I feel it's an overall better car especially with that 1.6 diesel mill. It's the best sedan in the diesel C segment.

With the Figo winning the title, I think one thing is proved that Indians prefer practicality over design and frills. The Figo has an awesome diesel engine combined with good FE, great interior space and an inviting price tag. But it loses out on design(both exterior and interior) and doesn't even have basic rear powered windows etc.
I chose a petrol Polo over a diesel Figo simply because I didn't like the Figo's design a bit and the interior didn't seem to be 'premium' enough. But to each of his own, I guess the Figo takes the cake for the best VFM hatchback. For the non-practical customers(like me), there's always the Polo

Your statement makes it sound that Ford just put four wheels, an engine underneath the body and sold it off

Rear power windows are the only thing that Figo misses, may be?

I know, I know, to each his own, but those words in bold made me to post this

P.S: I love Polo. I am impractical too!

You being a Figo owner, sorry if you were hurt by my statement. I just wanted to say that at least the top end variant should get rear power windows.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Pick,
* Space and value from the TATAs
* Ride and handling DNA + frugal TDCi engine from the Fords
* Pricing from Maruti

Voila, the Figo it is!

What I liked most was that the product was brilliantly supported by the sales and marketing teams. Their facebook page was a masterstroke!

Etios - Not a single car in the showroom. Not a single car delivered. Only the media and bloggers have driven it and have provided their reviews. Yet people are voting for it! We suggest to do a extensive TD before buying a car but for the Car Of The Year it's not needed. Interesting. I can atleast fathom if this car has proven itself in some other market and it has come to India only now. Long live brand worship!

hey no offence taken, as i said i was too tempted to reply to your statement more in a grammatical sense than anything else. I respect your opinion and am not sentimental/possessive about car/anything.

sorry for

BTW, now that Thar is added, wouldn't the voters who voted so far have a lesser option? And I agree with other members on Etios logic, may be it should be reserved for next year? In that way it would be fare for the car too!

Voted for the Figo. I want a sedan and so am buying the Fiesta, which is very similar to Figo in the mechanicals. Well done Ford.

Vento. Period. Etios was tempting too; but its plain Jane looks made me dump it.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

It was a tough choice for me between 2 cars - the Figo and the Vento.

I go with the VENTO - simply because it is positioned and priced perfectly and to top it beats the AHNC hands down. A wonderful diesel and a perfect AT box in the petrol - I would buy one right now.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Voted for figo. A hard decision between vento and figo , the real contenders for the coveted position. A true VFM car.
