2L8, The track is in the custody of MMST (Madras Motor Sports Trust) and the track days are organised by members of the MMST. And I think its legal too, with all the rules and regulations followed.

the track is owned and managed by MMST. But the MMST doesnt run any events. It only looks after the facilities and the infrastructure at the track.

The track day was organised by the MMSC.

when u ask if it is legal, what do u mean?

The track is indeed very safe with plenty of run-off, but I gotta mention those kerbs look very treacherous. They have
big sharp edge bumps on the kerbs. Dunno which madman designed those.

Can you imagine going over one of those into the grass in something like a Rotax kart at high speed. Will definitely rip the underside of the kart and probably that of the driver too.

Yes i completely buy that point .. Who ever designed them didnt do a good job .. That was my only concern about the track.. Those who have been up and over them onto the grass in a FISSME or a rotax would know .. Been there done that .. For those of u who want to know how it feels " IT HURTS" ..

Not to mention those poor motorcycle riders who have nothing around them to protect them.

The only other place I've seen such horrible kerbs is at Monza where the track officials have been trying to decades to prevent drivers from riding the kerbs around the chicane. But the only way to get a good laptime in Monza is to ride them no matter what. You can see see F1 cars bouncing like rallycars in the slow-mo shots. No purpose served here.

Here is the pic. The gray line makes the short loop. Hopefully these trackdays are providing enough money to MMST to patchup and open the full loop. Its fast and furious over there. Try finding the perfect line through C8-C9.

we have been thinking about using the full track, but the problem is not with the track surface itself.

its the safety issues.

We will have to post too many marshalls around the track and give more time between sessions to arrange recovery. This means lesser track time for everybody.

Thats why we thought of sticking to the short loop. This way u guys can learn the track quicker.
