2012 F1 - Circuit of the Americas

So now we come to Austin - THE United States of America for the F1 circus. Its literally battle of WDC that can get SEALED here.

I would root for Baby Schumi - Vettel. And regards to Schumi's First and the Last F1 race at the Americas circuit, i wish him a strong result, even though his Horse still behaves like a donkey on track.

For we Indians, it will be a very difficult race to watch as the race starts at Early 00:30 Monday morning and many might have a dodgy Monday morning office blues.

Great start, as always Pavan !!

The starting straight coupled with a rising hairpin will make this hopefully one of the most entertaining starts and I will put my money on Carbon Fiber Club members taking few people out and getting themselves in the way too

All manufacturer teams , McLaren will be eager to get into Americas for the huge amount of potential to tap into. Paul Hembrey has already stated that the surface can be quite abrasive and it will be good if we have two pit stops.

I am waiting in glee to see Seb and Alonso battle it out. Lewis can provide us the masala.

Lots of twists and turns. Is the track narrow ?

What are the possible overtaking areas ?

Starting grid looks narrow ? so we wont see any super starts?

But the first corner is pretty wide. Start position and race pace are crucial. If this is the case I doubt Alonso has any chance

No the track is not narrow. Like the Indian track it has wide entry points to the turns where overtaking may be possible and then the track narrows down to normal width at the apex of the corner. Seems like an interesting track.

Edit: From the looks of it the most likely overtaking points will be T12 & T1.

The track looks fantastic with all those elevations. Yes, the WDC fight could be over here. Fingers crossed

Theres an interesting clip featuring DC (Youtube "Red Bulls David Coulthard takes on Austin(HD)" driving around the incomplete Austin track amongst other places.

Re: 2012 F1 - Circuit of the Americas

Circuit may not be narrow, but it certainly looks like there is only one line possible from T2-T11. This may restrict passing opportunities. Maybe T11 will allow some passing. I guess the DRS zone is going to be between T11 and T12, so we can expect some passing there. Is the pit straight a bit short to have an effective DRS zone?

Re: 2012 F1 - Circuit of the Americas

The start grid is ample, i think.
Theres gonna be blast from the rear, I feel, a melee into the first corner.

As is usual in McL's case this year so far, its been 2 steps forward, one step back.
So last time we managed a pole, this time there oughta be hammy on the podium!!

Didnt expect to say this ever again, but go for the US gp!!

I think it is 1 step forward and 2 steps backward for McLaren ! This time around we would see the three titans on the podium.

I just hope the race is not boring. Monday 00:30 AM start itself is a pushing affair.

What's an american circuit without a pickup truck on it?

Re: 2012 F1 - Circuit of the Americas

Look at this elevation here

Great challenge for the drivers with the crazy lateral forces they would experience and also a great challenge for the cameramen too.

It should be a visual treat this weekend!

I still don't understand why Austin? Out of all the places -- Austin !?

Why not the picturesque New York, or a Beverly Hills track, like an American Monaco ?
