Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

Times of India Publications

Now visas!!
insuring an all indian grid are we?

I can see the opening remarks from race coverage reports.

"well, although we barely managed to make it to india............"

"Lewis throws caution to the wind, considering he is paid so much. However, even that cant cover how much I had to pay for the visa........."

"This is steve slater, reporting live, not from race centre, but from the airport lounge in ABCD city, watching the race on wifi........"

"manning the pits today for mercedes are Mr. gottenberg, Mr. Davidoff, and chantoo, and bittoo from the noida auto garage.........."

Disgruntlement in the F1 community has already started, ridicule in the media is bound to follow very soon....

This is just utter non sense! The Jaypee group has worked so hard to bring F1 in India and what does our govt decide to do on that , come up with more red tape than ever to hinder it. I just hope these are gimmicks to make some quick buck and there is no serious problem/red tape for the inaugural India F1 GP.

PS: mayankk are you up for Metallica too?

More Jackassery reported today! Visa issuance has become a problem. Many FIA members, drivers are reportedly having trouble getting the great Indian Visa!

One HRT drivers visa has been rejected... Why? One Indian driver is also a part of that team. so!

From the looks of it - this is heading towards becoming the one and only Indian grand prix!

I pity the JPSI folks who are running from pillar to post to pacify some unscrupulous rules.

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

Team,

I am booked for the GP and am an amateur photographer. Will the authorities permit photography from the stands ? The GP rules say no 'professional cameras' allowed - will Security know the difference between my amateur DSLR and a pro DSLR ( whatever that means?). I plan to carry a body and one longish lens..I wrote to JP Sports but they have not bothered to reply with a clarification.

Thanx

ePaper Lite - Times of India Publications

RBR roadshow, at rajpath!!
October 1st.

If you havent been to a live event, just come over.
even if youre a fan of a different team.
20 feet from an f1 car, even if its just doing some tons/hour in 3rd or 4th, its a sound that you wont forget in a hurry.
Nor will you be able to forget the smell of burning rubber, and the blur of motion when you miss the car screaming by...

Hi Buddy! I checked with Bookmyshow. They said SLRs / DSLRs not allowed. So i devised a better plan. I will be having a 16 x 50 nikon binocular. so i will get a digital camera Binocular adapter which would allow me to take pictures using the zooming capabilities of the binocular.

The problem here is no one.. neither in Bookmyshow nor in JPSI know what equipment is allowed and what isn't. One day they say one thing & on another day something else. The last time I checked with them they said No SLRs. Hope this helps

Good idea of using a binacular!
Will they allow super zoom P&S cameras? To a lay man they look like SLRs.

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

Now Bookmyshow says even Digital Cameras and Camcorders not allowed . I can't understand why they have to act so dumb. the rep tells me if u carry one then check at the venue whether it will be allowed. He has forwarded my query to the concerned department.

Is there anyone who has been to the circuit and is there any person who can check with the authorities about this?

Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit) - Cameras etc

Guys,

I would say not to discuss this too much here.

I am posting the picture of the Crowds from the Silverstone 2009.

Just zoom on it and see if you can count the SLRs & DSLRs being used there

I can't see why crowd control should be different here in India

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Please read item 6 of the List of Prohibited items (refer Book my Show or Jaypee websites) -

"Professional audio visual equipment, professional cameras"

Digital Cameras & Camcorders do not fall within the definition of "Professional" audio visual equipment or cameras. Heck, even DSLRs don't. As I have mentioned earlier on this thread, no one stopped us from carrying this stuff at the Malaysian & Singapore GPs - the rules are the same for the Indian GP as well.

People planning to carry in tripods or 100-400mm type of zoom lens etc may be asking for trouble.

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

I think the Indian govt. is just feeling left out in this.

'What! They are bringing in such a big sport (read entertainment show) to India and we couldn't cash in on it!"

The whole world is fighting over a spot in the calendar and India got it so easily. Wish the govt. realized how big this event is and what it will do for our country. Instead of encouraging all this international attention they are trying their best to remind everyone of CWG and how pathetic and corrupt the Indian govt. is.
Lets hope for the best but be prepared for the worst
