1) replacing fuel filter: Rs. 230 = 0.61 hrs (by above calculation) = approx 37 mins (do they need 37 mins to change a fuel filter?)
2) door switch: Rs. 80 = 0.21 hrs = 13 mins (reasonable)
3) clutch pedal adjustment = Rs. 110 = 0.3 hrs = 18 mins (reasonable)
4) spring pivot DR SH = Rs. 380 = 60 mins (i dont know what this means & what have they done!)
There is a lot of difference between what is said and what is in reality. Any time I have sent my car with complaints the A.S.S. has taken anywhere between 3 to 15 days.

Guys, i am thinking of painting the pillars in matt black. right now, its stickered in matt black vinyl but the vinyl keeps peeling off. so i took the decision of painting it.

contacted mahindra A.S.S & they quoted a price of 2500 approx for painting the B & C pillars with matt black without lacquer.

is it okay if i get it painted? any downsides???

oh, thats my worst fear... what other things anup saab? do they have to mess with the door pads or interiors or windows to paint the pillars?

isnt masking with newspaper enough?

Hehe, Raj, I would hate to guess!
Their propensity to spring nasty surprises knows no bounds!
While you may be worrying about things in the vicinity of the pillars they will somehow manage to damage things that are far away and quite unrelated to the pillars!

I took my chances with mahindra A.S.S today & leaving all apprehensions behind, i gave me car to them today to get the pillars painted in Matt black.

quite surprisingly, the staff was very courteous, patient & helpful. the quality of job done looks neat now, though since its dark, it needs a closer look tomorrow morning. also, some finishing touch is required near the third row glass. that will be done tomorrow.

Thanks. the work was done yesterday. But since i wanted the car in the evening itself & was reluctant to leave the car at the A.S.S overnight, the painter had to rush through his job leaving some areas unfinished.

However, since it was dark yesterday, they promised they would rectify the work today. I gave the painter the complete freedom to take how much ever time he needed & this time (he took around 4 hours for the finishing) & i am satisfied by their work. the finish is smooth & the vehicle looks good. the painter has assured me the paint wont chip easily & i think it would last for atleast 3 years, unlike vinyl which peels off every 4-6 months!

Total cost - Rs. 5400 which includes Rs. 1200 for the rear tail light which had water accumulated in it, i got it replaced.

here are some work-in-progress pics, i will post the pics of the car soon-

Raj,

Went thru the thread. Thanks for all the info. I see that you have a middle bench seat? Is it split and foldable?

You are welcome deepak.

Yes, the middle bench is double foldable till your front seats to create a flat floor but it is not split.

Re: Ownership Report - My new Scorpio VLX mHawk - 25,000 kms and counting

To,
My beloved Mahindra Scorpio,

It was tough parting with you, my beloved scorpio. Please understand that I had no choice. I unwillingly had to let you go... My heart cried out when I saw you the last time, when I had to peel off the T-BHP stickers from you. It was like I am abandoning you.

I had some great memorable experiences with you my dear. I know its not possible, but I hope you get a new owner who is more caring than I was & who loves you more than I did... I wish I could give you a goodbye hug... I love you my dear & I will miss you...

Your's Lovingly,
raj_5004

Thats an emotional parting note Raj. I am surprised to know that you had to sell the Scorpio. Why was such a decision taken?
I can see that you are the proud owner of a new Punto (90bhp). Congratulations and Happy Driving!

Once a Scorpio owner, always a Scorpio owner. You'll always be part of the Scorpio group in spirit, if not literally. Hope this parting doesn't keep you from sharing the Scorpio related knowledge that you must have acquired during your ownership.

Good luck with your new ride!

Cheers,
Vikram
