My Black Mamba - VW Vento TDi - *UPDATE* 50,000 kms

Yea Yea. I know I know. Its Raining VW Ventos at Team-Bhp.
I also got wet in the rain!
There are lots of nice nice ownership reports.
However mine would be short and crisp.
And this would be my first ownership report - though I had other cars, read a lot of ownership reports, dint have the courage to write a good one!
Hence the first attempt. gulp!

As I didn’t have the Driving experience of the car in my earlier post, I’m re-posting everything.
Here it goes the initial ownership report:

Model: VW Vento
Variant : Trendline
Engine : 1.6 L Diesel

Alternatives Considered:
Skoda Laura Classic TSI (my dream)
Mitsubishi Cedia Sports
Honda City

Strong Contender: Fiat Linea T-jet
After the alternatives didn’t work out for me , I finally zeroed down to t-jet and Vento.
T-jet had an immense turbo boost and the drive was jaw dropping.
Vento was good, but initial acceleration was not as good as petrol (obvious). I was backing out for its waiting period.

Complete booking and delivery from the dealership experience:
The dealer called up and said there is a black vento readily available (as someone had cancelled it).
I immediately booked it and the process began. There were no discounts or no add-ons given on the TDI version.
The petrol had lot of add-ons and options.
I had asked them to give me the IPL package (accessories) but was denied upfront.
Reason being " sir, diesel gaadi ka demand jyada hai, isliye no discounts or accessories
But anyways, I had different plans of fitting accessories.
There was some delay in payments from my end, so it took around 3 weeks and finally I got the car!
You may be chasing your dream car, but whenever you buy a car which you can afford from your hard earned money puts a smile on your face.
I don't know about others, but I feel that way!

Driving experience:
- 1600 kms so far within a matter of 2 weeks.
- The car is a gem in while cornering, It corners very smoothly in ghats section (Tried it on a small ghat). It is very much steady.
- I feel the car has a soft suspension, its bit rough on high-speeds (anyone can confirm ?)
- Mileage hovers around 16 to 18 kmpl in city traffic. I’m yet to take it to highway.
- Maximum I've taken it to 120 kmph and the car feels planted. Don't have any idea about > 120kmph.
- The turbo kicks in mostly after 2000 rpm ( anyone confirm ?) and i love the turbo spool. I can imagine how awesome it would be in chevy cruze.
- The aircon effect is pretty nice and there is negligible power drop with the air-con swtiched on. The rear ac vent is also a boon.
- The interior space is good for average Indians (I'm 5' 8" and I sit comfortably).
- Yes ingress/egress is a bit trouble.
- The high-speed braking is okay. I need to check for changing the rear drums to discs.
- Headlights need a Change. They are not powerful. I would be going for HID or projector lights.

Likings:
- The steering is very much responsive.
- The quiet interior once the windows are up.
- The diesel engine and the turbo spool.
- Sturdy builds. Plain yet excellent contours. I'm loving the european design. It grows on you.
- Feels great while driving and the drive is smooth.
- I love the interior cabin lights. It’s well-lit.
- The tail lamp design

Dislikes
- Single reverse light (gives an impression like the other one is fused)
- Diesel Engine noise its bit higher than the swifts and skodas ( I Don’t know whether it’s just my car)
- The clutch is very stiff (mentioned in other thread - seems it grows on you)
- Horn beep while locking/unlocking the doors.

Queries
- I do not know how to check the mileage in the MFD, tried it, but could not find it (I guess it’s absent in trendline). Vento owners please confirm?

Current Installations/upgrade:
Wheels:
Lenso Radien 15 " Rims (black with red lip)
Continental 195/55/R15
Audio:
Infinity Reference component systems (REF6020CS) - 2 sets
Kenwood Dual-Din HU DPX-MP5110US
Wiring Kits
Film
Garware tints with 55% heat rejection.

Future Additions:
- Black/Tan upholstery
- HID / Projector Lights
- Helix Bass tube (Shift from my figo)
- Sony Amp (Shift from my figo)
- Windshield tinting
- Smoked head and tail lights
- Webasto sun-roof
- I have a set of DRLs (got it from Bangkok). I may fit it in place of the fog-lamps.
Suggestions are welcome

re: My Black Mamba -VW Vento TDi- EDIT : 1st Service Report

Wow those are some crisp photos! Congrats! Great choice on the color since firstly black looks terrific on the Vento and secondly since yours is a treadline, the black mirrors and doorhandles don't look cheap. Nice design of the alloy wheels but IMO you shouldn't have gone for black alloys on a black car. Brushed aluminium would have looked best!

Cheers!

Awesome pics mikon. And no, the write-up isn't that confusing. Please share your driving experiences as well. Listen to the heart for the name. And no, please don't call it Venty.

I agree to disagree sir! Frankly, I like the black on black combo. But anyways, looks are subjective, lets leave it at that.

Cheers!

Congratulation on the car.
The contenders for your selection varied across segments .
Have you inquired if the IPL edition kit (HU,seat covers, door sils etc) can be added to trendline TDI too at similar cost?
Black is definitely a beauty. Would suggest you to go for all black interiors something on the line of motorhead5's Flash red Vento on the forum.

True it varied. Was just chasing my dreams.
Nope, There is nothing for the TDI not even mud-flaps!!. All the additions are only for petrol version.
I'm looking forward to your suggestion

Smart purchase and lucky to get hands on it in such a short time. Vento is a lovely car. Add to it the 255nm diesel engine and Volkswagen's reliablity and built quality means you have purchased a huge smile for yourself.
Plus, black car with black alloys and red stripes on it look killer. Must be an eye-ball attractor at day and a supermodel at night.

Congratulations.

Congratulations mikon on your VW Vento. You have bought the best diesel car available till date in 8-10 Lac range. And those alloys look stunning. Keep the thread updated with servicing experience and please post more photos of your car. Good luck and drive safe.

After reading the monthly sales report, I would say not just on T-BHP!! Congratulations on getting a great car! That too under 3 weeks! Looks menacing with those tints, alloys!

EDIT: Any plans to 'smoke' the head/tail lights for the complete look?
