re: My Black Mamba -VW Vento TDi- EDIT : 1st Service Report

@Mikon... Sorry for dropping in pretty late, but congrats on your purchase.

I'm just blown over by the pictures of your Black Mamba on green grass. Just looks perfect. One request - Can I use the first pic as my wallpaper on my laptop?? Its too tempting.

Regards,
Anant.

Thank you Sir!
I would be honoured if you use them as wallpapers. But I would suggest you not to download from here as they are less than 1 MB. Please PM me your emal id, i'll send you the high-resolution pictures which would be perfect fit for your wallpaper.

re: My Black Mamba -VW Vento TDi- EDIT : 1st Service Report

Goa Log :
Mamba went for a short Goa Trip, a 1000 kms in total. A total of 11000+ kms in the ODO.
Road was pretty welcoming except the ghat roads which were damaged by rain.
Mileage was real good which was around 20ish (even after lot of speed bursts in the highway)
Some downer was the the suspension which was hitting hard on large potholes. I dont know whether it is normal with all ventos

Few pics of dirty Mamba

Looks killer...as always! Post more pics or at least a complete TL.

I noticed you have mudflaps- are these the hard ones from VW? In which case that may be banging the potholes and not your suspension. Happens in my case.

Thank you sir!!
Yes they are the hard ones. but not from VW, its aftermarket.
The rain damaged potholes, broken roads. I heard (twice) a large thud near the wheel, like a rock hitting the under-body. Might be loose rocks on road too.

I do have couple of more pics, but with humans in front of he car. Hence was not posting.

Mikon, the alloys add a lot of character to the car. The photos are awesome, especially the second one!

I have felt a big thud once when I went over a pothole at about 50. It felt quite loud. I stopped and checked the underbody and found no damage. So I am guessing it could only be the suspension making the noise.

Even I was around 30 to 40. Then I guess it is pretty common. Such a relief !

Killer pics dude!

Considering that I ignored an available black color, and instead opted for the blue, looking at your Mamba's pics makes me believe I am commiting a grave mistake!

Seriously, a Goa trip on a long weekend, and only 2 pics?!! Bahut na-in-safi hai ye!

And agree with Noopster's point - the alloys look fantastic! Makes me wonder, why doesn't VW offer customizable alloys on the highline!

I think when the wheel goes into a large pothole, this thud makes its appearance.
Initially I used to somehow manage to get the rear wheel into the pothole and . wasa worried something was wrong with the suspension there. But recently, the front too went it when i was at a speed of 50 or 60 and the loud thud was again heard. Checked under body. No issues.

Thank you very much. I will check the underbody soon. I hope nothing serious happened.

Thanks! Been told I'd get it this month end (earlier dates committed were July month end, Aug 15th). Still not entirely convinced I might get it this month

Nice! I was expecting the pics to be up soon. Mamba looks amazing even when dirty. Adds charachter to the car IMO.
So, which road did you take to Goa?
Sorry, could not catch up with you, even when we were so close by.

Koi Na Sir, there is always a G2G at DLF.

Pune -> Kolhapur -> Nipani -> 12 kms, Take right -> Sawantwadi -> Goa
Goa - > Sawantwadi -> Towards Mumbai, Take right from NH-17 -> Ponda Ghat -> Kolhapur -> Pune

Total time taken : 8.5 hrs each way
While coming back, i got the worst road after i took a right from NH-17. You'll encounter broken roads every 10meters. Pathetic.

Please suggest if you know better way. Plans for Sunburn Festival are already cropping up.

Boss Mamba looks killer when dirty , looks properly menacing like the way it should be
i went from Mumbai and found the NH4 route via Belgaum to be decent , NH17 is crap and dangerous ( and i used it while coming back ) .. God knows how many times I got stuck behind slow trucks trying to overtake each other at snail's pace!

As Noops mentioned , if you have hard ( box type) mud guards then the sound is possibly coming from there . The undercarriage, as i understand, is adequately protected to escape unscathed normal scraping - as long as visual inspections reveals no damage you should have any cause for worry.
cheers

The second picture is astonishingly awesome. Looks like a Statham ride just after a long chase, taking a breath before the next dash.

Possibly this is the fastest and best route from Pune.
