Hey! I did not change the brakepads in 2nd service (now 32000kms +). However, I'm planning to change it now. I'm thinking of getting aftermarket brakepads by BOSCH. Yet to find out the rates and all.

How much did they charge you?

Wow ! 32,000 km and still going strong , thats great ! Given the amount of mods that you have done , did you replace the original brake pad too ?
The original VW pads cost Rs 1800 , labour was Rs 400 and around Rs 700 was skimming charges .

These are minimal mods sir. No, I did not touch anything in engine, brakes etc. It's high time for me to re-start working on the car

re: My Black Mamba - VW Vento TDi - *UPDATE* 50,000 kms

Vento's Brake-Pad Upgrade
Since Monsoon has already arrived and the car has already clicked 34500 kms. It was time for brake-pad upgrade. Rather it was long due.

The showroom guys did the work in 3 hours!
It included brake-pad change and greasing the door hinges for squeaks and all.
Total expense : 2400 INR (Brake pad + Labour + Rust removal)

Its good that you have got it done . Did you get to examine the old pads ? Were they completely shot ? I am interested because mine was shot even before it did 25 K kms while you changed yours at 34 K kms ( lasted 30% more than mine !).

They gave back the old brake-pads and they said it was totally shot(almost). However, the braking didnot increase significantly though.

re: My Black Mamba - VW Vento TDi - *UPDATE* 50,000 kms

40,000 KM Update
Yesterday reached the 40k mark plus. Hence, i'm in for new set of tyre hunting.
Currently the car has : Continental 195/55/R15
I dint have any problems(except some punctures) with them rather loved them.

So, I think either I would be going for same tyres or something different.
I'm keeping a close eye on vento tyre upgrade thread.

This time i would be upgrading it to 205/65/R15.
Saw bridgestone turanza which costs 6800 INR per piece. Looking for more options.

Mikon, 205/65 is a very high profile, most people would suggest 205/55 or 195/60. Any reason why you going that route?

As Noopster mentioned , 7% error is too high an error - may damage wheel well especially given our roads

Is that ER 60 ? In Bridgestone I liked Potenza G III better . Potenza and Turanza were quoted at around 5000 for 195/60 R15 size .
Look forward to hearing from you on what you decide . Btw , I bought Continentals - thanks for your feedback

When did you go to Goa?
Have you changed the tyres? If so, to what?

Also, whats the decision on, what we spoke the other day?

Goa was last weekend. Were you there too??!!
I'm yet to change the tyres. And should be continentals.

Decision : I backed out from that car. As suggested by you.
