The inlet has screw type tapered adapter in which you fix the water hose and connect to the tap with an plastic adaptor( costs Rs.10) since most taps are of 1/2'' and secure with an hose clip if required .You should get pipe + adaptor in any hardware shop . This model as per brochure can draw water from bucket or any water source ( tank / pond ) however am yet to check the same.
You do not get separate accs at Metro ,the car cleaning kit has got a rotary brush , wheel brush , soap tablets + a MF cost Rs.3K .

Karcher office in hyd is very close to my office and had been there today to get a foam adaptor .

Now i am using very less water to clean my scorpio & it is squeaking clean, i guess i can wash my car 3 times with less than 2 average size buckets.

re: Buying & Using a Pressure Washer

Went shopping for a pressure washer i had the Aquatak 1200 Plus in mind. But saw the Aquatak 150 Pro in the shop and came home with it. The exposed pump did it!

I had an Aquatak 100 Plus before, it was good for light usage but had an erratic auto cutoff switch which wouldn't let the machine work sometimes. Sold it. The new one with the wheels is easier to manoeuvre

Which is more reliable as a pressure washer? Bosch Aquatak or Karcher K2.110 series? Ill be using it once or twice a month to clean my car and bike.

The lowest price online for the K2 is 7000inr. Will it be possible to get discounts from the dealer if we buy 2 or more machines? A fellow bhpian, Shashank, has also agreed to purchase along with me from the dealer as neither of us have Metro memberships. So how much can be expected from the dealer as discount?

Also we are looking at the K3.5 but thats almost twice the price. So will it be justified to go for this for car washing purpose or stick with the K2?

What problems can we expect to face with Karcher in the long run? Also how good are the dealers in servicing the products?

Moderator Jaggu how is the Black and Decker performing? Any problems till now?

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Thanks.

Very important information you need to know about these washers are that you should not use them more than 10 mins continuously.
Trust me, you wouldn't need more than 3-4 mins to clean a car.
I have been using Aquatak for more than 1.5 yrs, touch wood, no issues till now.

re: Buying & Using a Pressure Washer

Do any of the owners of the bosch aquatec feel that the sound is too much under operation? I have heard a karchar under operation and i found the sound to be a lot less(atleast half that of bosch).

I am wondering if that is a defect with my piece in particular or is it a general issue. My aquatec under operation roars literally! I use a 100Plus!

Adding to what Partha has said, will a pressure washer be able to get rid of dirt accumulated on the inner alloys ? I drove 300km in rain and the rear alloy had a black paste like formation on the inner side. It required a lot of agitation with a brush to get rid of all the dirt. Not to mention, it broke my back to finish cleaning all 4 wheels!

It'll be really good and worth the investment if a pressure washer can get rid of all the dirt without needing a brush.

Also, between the Karcher 2.110 and 3.5, the 3.5 is almost twice the price but comes with more accessories, wee-bit more power and uses an induction motor.
Is it safe to assume it will also last longer than the 2.110, given we use it with caution ?

Looking forward to your suggestions.

PS: Any bangalore based bhp-ian who can lend/come along with us to Metro when we purchase our machines ? It'll be of great help to us

I have seen Karcher working in Metro and comparing with Bosch, Karcher is little low in noise but its not so much though. Will confirm this probably when i visit Metro this week again.
I believe, Karcher are born building pressure washers whereas for Bosch it is one of the many products.

re: Buying & Using a Pressure Washer

Tried out my new Aquatak 150 Pro this evening and the machine performed solidly. Its not as noisy as the Aquatak 100 Plus and more powerful too.

Foamed the car using the Aquatak 100's bottle attachment and car shampoo filled in the integrated tank, i used the bottle lance since that seemed to produce more foam.

Overall pleased with the upgrade and i can use it for heavy duty cleaning around the house without having to worry about giving the machine a break. The 12m range of the pressure hose is a boon and i never had to change the position of the machine once i started. With the short hose of the 100 Plus i had to shift the machine to cover the whole car.

Arkesh, check your PM.

Thanks for that info. Thing is Karcher 2.1 is made of Brush motor and 3.5 is water cooled induction motor. Will the reliability of both be same in the long run? Or would it be worth it going for the 3.5? It costs 2x of its smaller sibling and has a longer cable and hose and 2 more attachments.

We want a relatively niggle and headache free machine.

There could also be some problem with my machine too. Can be ascertained only if I give it for service. But the higher noise is there from day one

Induction motor would be more reliable and they usually don't come with the max continuous usage restriction found on base models.

I considered the Karcher 3.550 but decided against buying it and opted for the Bosch 1200 Plus (but ended up purchasing 150) because of the Karcher's leak issue which has been reported on the internet.

http://www.diynot.com/forums/applian...-video.288560/

One + i see for the Karcher is that its self priming and doesn't need a tap, only the Clic range from Bosch has this self priming feature.

Hi guys,

I have been reading everyone's views on this thread. I would like to declare that I am involved in the industry of cleaning equipment.

I'd like to share some information about pressure washers:

1. Induction motor based machines DO have a much higher life than their universal motor run counterparts. Life expectancy when used regularly, but maintained and stored correctly can be in years. These are preferred by professionals or heavy DIY users.

2. Universal motor run washers have a LIMITED life expectancy - and to define it explicitly is difficult. If maintained well and used properly, these should be able to last a year and a half - when cleaning a car every day - considering maximum use of about 15 mins. Generally the better machines come with a total stop system - this will switch off the motor once the trigger is released. This will thus give the
motor some rest intermittently - thus improving the life.
It is recommended to take off the gun and hose completely from the machine and keep it in a dry and safe storage area.

3. High pressure washers are capable of removing most of the grime stuck to the vehicle. But if you are trying the machine on your car/bike for the first time, remember that it is bound to have a lot of stuff stuck in various areas. Pressure washers will remove MOST of it, but can't be expected to remove ALL of it in one go. So don't overuse the machine in trying to remove all of the stuff in one go. It will get removed gradually over a period of various washes.

4. Pressure washers have a lot of plus points. THE quantity of water used is generally 40% lesser than that in the case of using a hose - this is valid for a 10 Litres per minute machine. Also, the cleaning effectiveness and quality is far better. And obviously the speed of cleaning is much higher too.

These are some of my recommendations while choosing the right machine.

Cheers.
Sam

I am in Bangalore 11-14 Dec and will be visiting Metro. I got my karcher pressure washer there and mainly use it for porch portico and bathroom cleaning. Very good buy at Metro and if anyone wants I can meet them there likely on 13 or 14. I have my cousins card with me.
I got the K 3.5xx series for 13.5k and sometimes feel I should have gone for the next higher one. Mine is made in Italy while the next one at about 27k is German.
I use it continuously for atleast an hour, no issues so far.

Just want to add that self priming pressure washers do exist - but they come with a SEPARATE pump to provide suction at the inlet. The actual pump for outlet pressure generation is CERTAINLY NOT MEANT TO PROVIDE SUCTION for inlet water - that is why there is a need for priming in the first place.
