Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

Hi guys,

Just a thread to serve as a reference point/guideline where the mandated 80/120kph buzzer can be safely disabled or coded off on cars sold in India.

This isn't a debate on whether one is needed or not, as there exists a separate thread on its merits and demerits, but just cars where it has been successfully done.

For instance, all G series BMW sold post 2019 are easy to get their warnings turned off

Similarly what cars are easy to code off and what are hard. (VW easy, Hyundai/Kia hard).

There's this place called Marqued Auto or something on Hosur road that claims that they can disable the buzzers for BMWs and other cars. You can check with them. I guess you can disable it for other cars as well.

re: Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

I have a related question.

Say I buy the base variant of a Swift or an Ignis, or an S-presso or anything really, that doesnt get a factory fitted stereo system.

To produce the beeping sound, there has to be a speaker somewhere, which I probably guess win be under the dashboard.

If I find and remove that speaker, I will lose the beeping sound, right?
Ofcourse I'll also lose the reverse parking sensor sound, but in cars this small, it shouldn't matter.
Is this the only handicap, or are there any others?

I think that speaker is inside the instrumentation console and not mounted separately anywhere (I may be wrong too).

Hence if it is indeed inside, you'll need to open the instrument cluster and see what can be done.

Speed warning disabling

@Ash V Tec: Bless you my man for this thread. I'm done debating this. Just tell me where I can have mine removed whenever I buy my next car. LOL.

There is no way I find that beeping acceptable in any car I would own. Even the periodic one at 80 kmph.

re: Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

Some CBU imports imported under new 2500 car rule no longer have this feature

On others, like BMW/ VW, it's fairly easy. Most guys will do for 5-10 K. Take about 15 minutes, a laptop with internet and an OBD cable.

Kia - Easy
I know of a Seltos in which the dealer himself disabled it on request.

Yes. Imports that do not need homologation in India, do not have the beeps.

PS: I'm not sure if this thread should exist in this forum or not. Someone might feel like we are promoting something illegal.

Low fuel, seat belt, door open, lights on - you'll lose all of these warning sounds unless there's a dedicated buzzer for these functions (which is highly unlikely).

I believe its called "Marque One Motec". This service is also offered by E-tuners India.

Re: Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

Almost all tuners in India - at least the ones with a laptop - now offer this service. However, some of the big guys don't entertain unless you know them (as it's too small a job for them + no trouble with cops). Look for any remap specialist and they'll do this for you.

Additionally, authorised workshops are also entertaining requests. A friend got it removed on his brand-new Mercedes from the dealer itself.

This is the best option as it won't upset warranty claims, if any. I'm pretty sure this is going to become the final point of a TBHP checklist when buying a new car. "disable warning alert at dealer" check !

Nice thread. I asked around for a way to get rid of the buzzer for a 2019 Camry. Nobody seems to know how to get rid of it in the Toyotas(yet).

This information should not be posted online as deleting this option is illegal and the dealers will end up in trouble.

Agreed, let's not name dealerships and leave it as authorised workshops. PM further details if needed.

Tuners doesn't matter, because they advertise for the same on their own social media pages.

I agree with BHPIAN Maverick5490. Mods, could you please delete my last post as I've mentioned a tuner's name. Thank you.
