Hi, have you been able to achieve the results? I'm also curious to know if the speed limit can be adjusted or removed via VCDS. I'm considering to try my luck on a Chinese replica of the RossTech cable.

I'm working in Karaikal, UT of Puducherry. Also, Meet Brownie

Not sure about VCDS or its clone, but in Vag cars, I know one can do it using OBD Eleven. Basically, you change the region to some other country. Although the beeps are removed, some other settings also get changed based on the region you choose, like the DTE changes from KM/l to l/100KM, KMs change Miles etc.

But then, can't we just reprogramme those settings with VCDS or OBDeleven?

Yes, you can - I have no personal knowledge but I understand it's a relatively simple task.

Congratulations! The chocolate brown is a nice shade.
The cable I ordered was a total bust unfortunately. I need to spend time and get the proper drivers first and try again. Have placed a return request with Amazon. Will try my luck with obdeleven as member Jaguar suggested.

I believe some settings are tied to the region. In my Polo, I could not change some settings using OBDeleven. Could be due to my lack of knowledge or OBDeleven limitation or both.

Thank you, I will try this and update (if I manage to get a working VCDS setup)

I remember seeing on a YouTube channel (a pleasant man from TN) that OBDeleven misses out on some things with new Skoda Rapids. Needs a fact check.

Kia 80/120 kmph speed alarm disable options/possibility

Hi fellow members,

My recent purchase of a Kia Sonet GTX+ has been a very good decision and have been loving the car. But it is this one thing, the speed alarm at 80/120kmph that really annoys me, every time I hit the highways. I understand the purpose of it and the govt rules, but I would like to disable it.

I have come across various tuning companies doing this as a service for a few brands such as VAG, Merc, BMWs and Fords. However I have never heard of anyone doing it over software for Hyundai/Kia cars.

So I would like to know if any Kia owner here has done it or knows someone who can do it? (by software or physically removing the buzzer)

Also I could try myself if anyone can help me find the location of buzzer inside the car.

Looking for some guides.

Thank you

I think it is located inside the instrument cluster. I remember seeing a mini speaker like inside the cluster in my Creta.

Re: Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

Thanks to a BHPian for the tip (not naming him due to legality concerns) for removing the beeps on the 2020 Octavia.

For the VAG cars, you have to go to 17 - Instruments, then Adaptation and from the drop-down menu, select the option indicated under IND/INDIA for the speed limit warnings. There is one each for the 80 kmph and 120 kmph alert.

For the 80 kmph alert, it is a yes/no (0/1) toggle. For the 120 kmph alert, you've to set the speed limit to a higher value to negate the beep.

Here's another workaround for the Polo from a member adityagttsi who had shared this on the uk-polos forum (link):

Quote:
In the 17 Instruments console select long coding. In byte 0 bit 3-4 you will find it blank with the stock long coding B10A000000

Change the byte 3-4 to Rest of the world from the drop down menu or use this long coding 110A000000

After this in adaptions you will have to change the value for Fuel Economy from litres/per 100km to kilometres/litre

Works like a charm, hope this helps guys in India
Thank you aditya!

Re: Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

Can anyone guide if there's anyone who can do this in Kolkata for VAG cars? For privacy concerns, please feel free to PM me. Thanks in advance.
Also, is this mod likely to void warranty?

Re: Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

My new i20 has this terribly irritating and distracting chime whenever I cross 80 kmph. Any place /person to contact in BLR to get it removed? The 120 kmph chime is OK by me.
