There is no need to worry about the effect on the warranty of any coding in a BMW as long as the FA and VO of the car is not changed.

Coding for the speed alarm DOES NOT affect the VO and the dealer does not see any issue with the car as long as the coding has been done correctly and there are no errors in the car. The worst thing that can happen in a bimmer is that it may get reset after the dealer updates the software or something. But need not worry, can be coded back again.

VO and FA Explained well by Akshay here. So I would say safe to get it done from somebody who knows what they are doing.

Has anybody got it done for 2021 Toyota Fortuner?

Re: Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

On the one hand the government is vigorously pursuing its agenda of development, expansion and upgradation of highways and expressways, wherein the speed limits have been assigned to the level of 120km/h, with the case in the point being the upcoming 1380 km long Delhi-Mumbai expressway. Whereas on the other hand the vehicles are compulsorily being equipped with speed limit exceed buzzers on speeds as low as 80km/h. Safety is always paramount but simply can't understand the logic behind such absurd initiatives.

Re: Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

Speed Limit on most Divided National and State highways is at 90Kmph, and a few starting to pop up at 120Kmph.

What sense does 80 Kmph make? That beep is extremely annoying when hovering around the 80 Kmph mark, every throttle input triggers a beep.

I drive the Toyota Innova, is there a way I can turn off this beep?

Also with the stricter enforcement of Speed limits using radar based CCTV Cameras, there is no indication(Flash or sorts) of any form to notify that you have been clicked. Most people are so scared that when they see cameras they drive at 10-15 kmph below the speed limit just to be safe and in effect disrupting the entire flow of traffic.

IMHO, yes excessive speeding needs to be penalized but only incases when you're driving 15-20% above speed limit. Other Violations that are more dangerous and require similar control using the same CCTV system are:

- Slow driving on highways
- Use of mobiles (Distracted Driving)
- Non Functional tail/Headlamps

Re: Disabling the 80 / 120 kmph speed warning alerts

Is there any dealer/coding shop that has successfully removed the beeping from Creta/Seltos??

I heard a seltos owner got his beeps removed by the dealer under warranty, not sure where it came from. Beeps get really annoying when travelling on Delhi roads between Noida/Gurgaon.

Thanks for reference guys.
Great to know. Will this make the warranty null if BMW finds out?

If done correctly (no flashing of the ECU or anything), there would be no way for BMW to find out unless they were intentionally checking for it which is extremely unlikely or they actually drove it past 80.

They would only deny a warranty claim if they can prove the issue on the claim was due to the fact that disabling the beeps caused the issue, which if the coding is done right, would not affect anything.

BMW owners can lower the gong somewhat though:

Yes BMW does have a setting for the volume of the rest of the chimes. But it does NOT affect the volume of the speed chime. (I tried it the first time i exceeded 80 in my X1 ) . You can turn down the volume of the gong to the minimum and it will show that in settings yet the mandatory speed chime still goes on at the same volume unfortunately. This control handles the other gongs from what I can see.
