My own installation trials...

Well... was at factory this sunday... (was making up for lost time over 15th Aug + Rakhee) and I got an idea...

To do my very own dampening trial .. - I decided to dampen the boot of my Viva using a sheet of SiltonMat V 1.1

The reasons were simple:

1) I would get first hand experience with the installation - and hence I could locate possible problems and weaknesses.

2) I could periodically check the dampening for adhesive strength etc.

3) The boot of my Viva was getting irritatingly noisy after 4 years of pounding from my Bass Tube....

Since I dont have any speakers installed in this panel, I decided to dampen all areas which I though will rattle/vibrate from bass...

I basically dampened all the areas where the Metal Body & Plastic panel actually make contact.
..

I dont know if I did a good job or a horrible one, since I have never done this before...Maybe I should have used more material......

I want to develop the Indian version of Dynamat. UPDATE: Sample is ready for testing!-installed1.jpg

Thank you for your replies...

Btw.. I already know that the Aluminum we tried in V 1.1 is useless for the application. It is too stiff/hard/thick and I am already hunting for a better suited material/fabric.

Too thick. Hard to smoothen out over surfaces. Workers stand the risk of getting nicks and cuts. Damping properties seem ok, and the adhesive seems to be holding up fine.

Update: Got the new aluminum sheet.

You guys wont believe how hard it was to find. The thickness is 1/4 that of V 1.1. Not cuts, and can be cut using scissors easily.

Still working on bettering the compound though.

Great going AbhiJ! Will this product be helpful in keeping my doors silent on bad roads? They make a lot of kat kat type noise. Thanks

Wow. Just went through the 10 pages. So 9 months and the product should be out. AbhiJ, please post the updates. I am looking for cheaper options to damp my car. Please let me know if i can buy this product.

It should be v1.2 product by now? What name you finally decided on?
