i think he reduced the boost 'by' .5psi.
How is the boost controlled? Is there a boost controller?

Could be.. Could be.. Butterflies in stomach Memoh ??? lol

@ kutlee, either Waste gate kept open or boost cut feature. Turbo will be having internal waste gate spring usually at 7psi. i.e minimum boost is decided by wastegate spring in this case should be around 7 psi (Keshav pls confirm) Boost controller comes in to picture after that.

That might be because Mohnish's dad and driver will be driving the car... To be safe...

thanks Rocam, i had an assumption that default wastegate setting will be around 6-7psi and boost controlled after that. Here i think the boost is less than 7 psi. i was wondering how to check the boost by such small numbers. and the boost is set to different values in day's time. thats super flexibility..

You mean the T-Rex (dinosour species) right ??

On a serious note : The install in the SX4 is absolutely marvelous - meticulous work. Congrats to all responsible for this !!!

Cheers

@ford_rocam : The boost was set at 0.5 psi as Memo thought dad and driver may not be comfortable yet... So waiting for memo to do 0.9 bar

Awaiting your suggestion...

Good thought.

What i was thinking is why is that pipe coming out of tappet cover going back to intake (pre turbo) just after the filter, by this it has become like stock setup where blow by vapours are routed back in to combustion chamber, the entire PCV setup is working under vaccum, good for stock setup & emission purpose, but when we turbo it the amount of blow by will be too fold & it will go through Compressor, intercooler, manifold & in to the combustion chamber, with this with in no time the entire intake will become smuggy & sticky full of sludge, imagine it to be inside turbo's compressor housing, intercooler and entire intake system. this will effect the air flow as time goes by as the entire intake will add up to restriction because of smudge, this is one part.

But the most important part is routing blow by back in to combustion chamber while boosting effects the octane rating of fuel thereby increasing chance of detonation. and decrease in performance.

Stock setup

New Setup
We cancel that line & put a breather filter at outlet of tappet cover & close the opening at intake like in this picture.
Project SX4-t. EDIT: Dyno chart (on pg10) and pics added-100_2096.jpg

The intake remains clean of smudge plus can run more timing = more efficient = more power.

Also if you guys can do something about filter, The MAF sensor & filter is opposite radiator fan & when hood is closed the turbo will suck in lot of unwanted hot air. also the aluminum heats up faster so pipes going near from the Exhaust manifold needs attention.

Whats the current intake temperature this setup is seeing?

My only concern is with the above two issues otherwise the job done looks top notch.

@ford_rocam

Thanks for the input, Psycho had put in the same query as we were installing the system. Let me clarify with the HKS engineers.

Intake temperatures (at TB, case temp) were ranging from 45-65deg.

Exhaust manifold has stainless steel heat shields and insulators (not clear in pic) and does not influence intake pipe temps much. Temps at all points in and around the system has been checked and validated to be in safe operating limits. As regards the MAF and air filter, that is the only viable option for the street package, and even otherwise it stays just off the radiator air current and with the hood closed there is a reasonable amount of fresh airflow paths in that region .
