You didn't meet me with the MS. Let me know what's the status and I'll come to Pune probably this weekend. Want to see the car before it cranks

Well to be honest, I haven't really got much time recently, thats why I could not meet you with the MS.
We are actually waiting for the CAS to arrive, the one has compatibility issues with the DOHC head.It should be here any moment and we should be up and ready.
Come over anytime mate, you are always welcome.

Was actually waiting for my CAS to arrive, the SOHC one has compatibility issues with the DOHC head and therefore need to source the correct one.

That got delayed a bit but it should be here soon and I can get the car running.Everything else is completed, waiting just for the sensor.

Re: Engine swap/Performance mods in Lancer

Updates after a long time,finally!
Well I was awaiting the arrival of my Cam Angle Sensor since the current one had compatibility issues.
Received the correct one few days back.

Tadaaaa!!

Finally completed the DOHC swap and the engine is up and running after a long time.

Unfortunately the Alternator has gone bad.God knows why that happened, maybe because it was lying idle for quite some time.Nothing major, will be fixed in no time.
Now the run in for the engine begins. The revving was just for fun, no more fooling around now for min 1500-2000 kms.

Thats all for now.

Hi Amey, What HP figures are you looking at with the setup?

Approx. 110-120 WHP that's like 140-150 HP at crank maybe.

Re: Engine swap/Performance mods in Lancer

Nice to see it alive finally.

Do a pre run in compression check and then check it again after run-in is complete.

A 4g15 with a DOHC setup has 118 HP at the crank, an NA cedia engine with a DOHC setup should churn those numbers, Correct me if i am wrong but with a Turbo even with 6-7 PSI you should be looking at 140-150 BHP at the wheel.

Re: Engine swap/Performance mods in Lancer

Update :
Its been quite a while since I have posted any updates. After the engine build we ran into some issues. We spun a bearing but that was sheer stupidity on our part since we revved her to 7-8k rpm after a fresh build.I know we were quite lame in doing so.
Anyway, we had to rebuild the entire engine, which we completed recently and finally today after a long wait of nearly 5-6 months, I drove the car for the first time.
Mods completed in this stage -
SOHC - DOHC swap
Forged pistons
Forged Rods

I was more concerned about the DOHC swap because its a bit tricky since such a engine does not exist (i.e 4G94 DOHC)
We had to use timing belt from a Toyota Supra for the odd length.
Bottomline is, we completed the swap succesfully and she is running just fine.

Currently the run in period is going on so I am not revving her beyond 3k rpm.
Will be doing an oil change at 100 kms. then at 500 kms. and then 1500 kms.
After this I would be able to push her to the limits.

That's all for now. Will update as and when we move forward.

Re: Engine swap/Performance mods in Lancer

Actually there is a 4G94 DOHC version now according to this page which generates 145PS@5700/192Nm@4250.
