The way i see it, RC390 customers are not going to be swayed by 310RR. It is the RC 200 owners who may go for the TVS. Just 30k more, they get a better and faster bike(with ABS).

And that makes RC250 obsolete, right before the launch.

But for anyone who is after true sport bike experience, there are only 3 options within 5 lakhs INR for a new bike- Yamaha R15, RC200 & RC390!


Wait for some time, Bajaj Triumph tie up will yield some nice products.

IMHO, Bajaj is the best Indian manufacturer when it comes to working for better customer experience. Be it getting KTMs here at downright cheap prices, or bringing safety to commuter bikes like 200ns, or at attempting to make new parterships and exploring newer product portfolio.

Fantastic looking bike, this one is. And going by the reports it performs fantastically too.
I just wish TVS had named it something other than Apache! This one is leagues ahead of the other Apaches and needed its own identity, IMO.

The biggest advantage TVS has is service network. A super bike with excellent service network is a killer. plus they have outsmarted BMW and bettered the art.

Usually they are very smart when it comes to pricing but with this one I feel, they should have tested the waters with a lower price.

The pricing seems to be fair and slots in nicely with the other existing products on the market.
Lets not say its on the higher side. All the initial reviews point out a very nice package overall.

Any reports on its top speed? In gear acceleration, speeds attained in each gears, this would help in knowing as to how capable the engine is.
I will rely on my own as far as gauging handling goes as it is different from what others feel about it. For example, I am instantly on home with the Yamahas, not so with the others.

It's heartening to see Indian manufacturers taking cognizance of us motorcycle enthusiasts who often get lost in the burgeoning commuter market. Kudos to TVS (and RE for the interceptor 650) for that. Hope Honda is listening and launches the CB300 now!

Coming to the motorcycle, it looks brilliant. The tricolour flag decal on the windshield is a good touch. The tail lights look like an upside down omega.(or ohm for the electrical engineers here!) The vertically stacked odo is innovative too.

The three gripes I have is that fat, fat exhaust, TVS could have done a bit to differentiate it from the BMW G310r's. Secondly the 'Apache' branding on the fairing looks like an afterthought. Stands out like a sore thumb on a all round premium looking motorcycle. Finally, the RR310 branding near the clip-on handlebars would have been better in metal, rather than plastic.

Going by the reviews and videos, bike is brilliant in corners and seems to be running a 41 teeth sprocket compared to the 40 teeth one on the G310. This should result in taller gearing, therefore higher top speed. Can't wait to ride one!!

The first product for India from TVS-BMW marriage and it's mindblowing! This product has set a new standard from an Indian manufacturer. Probably Bajaj saw this coming and therefore tied up with Triumph to give us better and bigger products. Good times ahead for Indian riders.

The powerdrift review explains this well. For a bike to be agile and also handle well, the wheelbase should be short and swing arm should be long. Now these are contradicting requirements since swing arm length will decrease as wheel base decreases. By using the reverse inclined engine, this problem is solved to an extent as a longer swing arm can be used for a shorter wheel base. This supposedly increases the agility and the handling characteristics of the bike. This technology has been derived from BMW G310R.

The drawback of this is visible in the bike design itself: the bulky and disproportionate exhaust compared to the otherwise brilliant package. This could not be avoided since the engine's air intake is in the front and the exhaust at the back which gives very little space to accommodate all the exhaust parts.

One brilliant design. Looks like a perfect sports bike - apt for touring and on the race tracks. Should definitely be a head turner, attention magnet when on the street.
Attention to detailing is top notch especially the decals (tricolor), tail lamp design and the colors to each and every part.
Like many said, would have more liked if the exhaust was shortened like in the Gixxer (IMHO)

PS. The review by Powerdrift was top notch especially the BGM and video angles. Sure the drone shots are mouthwatering. Goosebumps!!

Powerdrift's initial say is that this is in between Track & Touring, though IMO this is not perfect touring with 11ltrs tank, seating position, that small rear seat for pillion is not comfortable.

The bike is distinct with others with Kayaba USD suspension, reverse inclined engine setup for longer swingarms, yet shorter wheelbase which makes lower centre of gravity. Dual Channel ABS, Michelin radials, feature rich instrument cluster.

Did any one called TVS dealer to enquire bookings ?

+1. The whole video is based on track performance and he only made faint comparisons with RC 390 and that too at the very end of the video.

It was not a full review, only a first ride - and the actual review would surely come out later.

It is evident that they only got a couple of hours at the track and had to finish up all the shooting way past daylight hours. Surely seems to have managed a job better (or atleast similar) to any other journalists that attended the event.

To have done something similar to other journalists is not why people love Powerdrift for.

They used to be more detailed in their first ride reports. Ex: D400, 2017 RC390.

While I agree RC390 is the better performance package, A lot of buyers in this class purchase for looks,snazzy features like LED lights and higher top speed, quicker acceleration, stickier tires would hardly matter to them. A reason why Pulsar trump Apache is because the former was better all rounder/looker than the latter, which performed better.
