The Shogun was made when the partnership with Suzuki was still on but I remember reading in some magazine then that tvs was solely responsible for the engineering. Remember that the Shogun was based on the Supra, which was itself based on the ax100. The Shogun was the result of everything that tvs learnt in racing and rallying. Thinking rationally, the tvs - Suzuki partnership only yielded two bikes: the AX100 and the Fiero. It is to tvs's credit that it developed the engineering competence to further develop the technology.

The problem I see with tvs is that they are too conservative and modest. They are the most active and successful company in Indian motorsport yet they talk too little about that.

I, for one, am keen on the Apache 310rr and hope that it's competitive and vfm.

The Shogun was a great bike and the first one with 5 gears iirc. TVS is a great company no denying that.

The apache is also a good product only if the seating is not compatible to my physique

The Shogun had 4 gears. The Shaolin that came later had 5. The Shogun was a blast to ride! The Shaolin was more refined, but not as much fun.

Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

TVS always had a Yamaha obsession (Shogun - RX killer, RTR160 - R15 killer). Without a Yamaha in their sights, how are they going to push themselves?

PD observes that this is probably the best all rounder package in the market currently, even better then the R3. So now Yamaha needs to catch up with the updated R3 with ABS, and see if they can take the crown back.

Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

I called up Logesh Auto in Chennai, one of the two dealerships taking bookings for RR 310. They have received 18 bookings so far, 11 for red & rest for black. Booking amount is 10,000/-. Test bikes expected in 5 days and RTO formalities to happen after that. Am told to expect a delivery towards end of December / beginning of Jan. They may get around 10 bikes in first lot.

TVS can get the cash registers ringing if they can produce enough numbers to ensure there is very little waiting period.

Hope this does not become another instance of how RTR 200 was sold.

Surprisingly, still no video testing the RR310 on road. Supply problem?

Strange to see no dealership for the 310 in MP.

I believe this track review was done at the press launch, before the actual unveil, and TVS hasn't yet provided bikes for road tests.

That is hardly 5-10k less than RC390. For 5-10k more, one gets switchable ABS, slipper clutch, more power and more torque. TVS should have priced it around 2.5 lakh otr IMO.

In bangalore even RC390 costs 3+, and again as discussed probably Apache would be much more forgiving and easy to ride on the street. There is no doubts that RC has better gadgets, more power and is definitely better VFM, but for some one who will spend majority of his time riding the bike in city, Apache probably makes a better case.

Case being me, i could have got the RC390 a year back, but for some one like me who will spend 80% of the time driving in city, RC390 hardly made any sense even with all those gadgets.

Good times for biking community in india, more choices, more fun.
