Team-BHP - Ford EcoSport : Official Review

My third service done. The engine feels smoother, steering is lighter (:Frustrati), and the experience with Kaiarli Ford was good. I was scared reading the negative reviews on the internet.

Bill came to Rs 5400 which includes wheel alignment and balancing. Other expenses were engine oil, fuel filter and air filter. That's not bad for a yearly service. Moreover, air filter is changeable only every two years.

I have a query here. Third service is at 2 years or 20K km whichever is earlier. I did my second service at 6K km. Now it has done 16K km, and hasn't reached the 2 year mark yet. What the service center says is since I have covered 10K, it is time for service no matter whether it is 2 years or covered 20K. To me, it makes real sense, but wonder why they don't specify it that way.

I think they should say, every year or every 10K, whichever is earlier.

I think they are reading it wrong, the service interval is 10K kms/1 year, its whichever comes earlier. Your car is due for service because you drove 10K kms after the last service, it may not have been one year since that service.

The 1.5 AT got airbags all around right? Ensure that the seat covers are compatible and does not interfere with the airbags' operation.

You mean the under body engine guard not the over body engine cover. Under body is what you should get.

Get the illuminated scruff plate and interior blue lighting accessory. It looks great and does not cost much.

Headlights get the Philips upgrade in the 4500-6000 K light range.

As you have 6 airbags, avoid installing seat covers, and if u insist get the OEM ones compatible with 6 airbags only. It shouldn't come in the way of airbag deployment in case any unfortunate events happen. The illuminate scuff plates and ambient light arnt exactly cheap, come for around 4.5+2.5k. Aftermarket ones are cheap but then you play with the warranty of the car. One thing to note is that they turn off when ignition is on and the car is moving.

Booked a white Titanium (O) TDCi.
Option 1: April 22 2015 manufacturing with Goodyears
Option 2: April 13 2015 manufacturing with MRF.
Which one should I chose? They both are present in the dealer stock currently.
Is vindecoderz.com a reliable site for deciding the VIN?
P.S- Dealers have started offering discounts at their end.

Get either! The Goodyears are as bad as the MRF's. In either case, you would feel the need to change in around 2 years.

Hey the Goodyears are not that bad. Using them for 1.5 years and 15K kms.

Even during the review the cars with Goodyear were better in terms of grip vs the MRF. The MRF was noisy and would lose grip and start squealing at hint of aggressive driving.

The best thing to do is to do a tyre change at the time of purchasing.

Exactly. Close to 2 years and 24k kms - No grip, very noisy and feels like I am driving a car with no abs. And more importantly, it looks so bad. Luckily, I changed the spare to Michelin 3ST so there's a definite brand change that will happen. Goodyear is better than MRF anyday.

Other than the Goodyear the only other option was Michelin P3 ST but they were costing a bomb and I wasn't keen on spending so much for a car that would see worst of bangalore roads daily.

I did the same, changed from MRF to Goodyear's. 1.5 years and 21k kms later, am very much satisfied with them. Grip is good, comfort is good and road noise is not too much, they are pretty tough and have suffered only 1 puncture so far. Wear rate is quite high but if they last even 33-35k kms, am happy as the tyres are very competitively priced.

Will stick to the same tyres, Pirelli or Michelin is not an option since the car is driven on absolutely pathetic roads of north India and Himachal and only tough tyres will survive that abuse, the car is driven by my father and he does not prefer slowing over potholes :(

My dealership has put up a banner quoting "ecosport at cheapest price". They had offered me a 21k off and on pulling some strings, calling up the owner itself, I managed to strike a good deal on the on road price
