Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

The Kwid is now offered with 13-inch alloy wheels as an official accessory at all Renault dealerships.

Quote:
The Kwid is offered with 13-inch steel wheels as standard, but the company uses a three-lug-nut design rather than the standard four-lug-nut design used by most other manufacturers in this segment. Apart from the Tata Nano (which is fitted with 12-inch wheels as standard), there are not many other cars which feature wheels with three lug-nuts, and finding alloy-wheels for such a configuration is difficult.

Renault has heeded to the demands of existing and potential customers by offering the three lug-nut 13-inch alloy wheels for the Kwid.
The company claims that these alloy wheels - which are gloss-black with silver accents, and have 6-spokes - have been tested for best performance, fit, finish and durability.
The company will offer a warranty of 1 year or 20,000kms (whichever is first) on these alloy wheels.

I think Kwid at auto expo had these alloys. HRS has come up with 13 & 14 inch alloys for Kwid with 3 nuts. It's good to see Renault offering alloys with warranty. I will consider it during my first free service

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Happened to remove the flimsy hubcaps from my Kwid, and the tiny Kwid now looks hoot! Will post some pictures soon.
Coming to replacing tires in Kwid, well its quite a task. The design as such is not user friendly. The Hub doesnot house any thread, instead the wheel nuts are integrated ones with thread. It gets quite tricky to hold the tire without any support and slot the wheel nuts. The nuts are also of pretty poor quality. Not sure If they are strong enough to hold the tires! The jack to raise the car is the worst I have come across.

Does anybody know if the tiny black hubcaps of RXE's can be bought from Renault?

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Hi All, As per TOI reports today Renault has halted the Kwids production due to engine problems. They have scrapped 1500 engines due to high noise levels. Looks like this will further increase the waiting period for the car. And obviously not a good news for a Renault.

Here is the link to the News - http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/b...w/52301328.cms

It doesn't say how many cars have been affected due to this issue and will there be a recall. Not at all acceptable from Renault.

Did they do anything to the engine? I mean, my car is very jerky even in 1st and when I went for 1st service, I thought maybe they'll tune the engine or something (my first car experience), but one of the service personnel just remarked that, its normal for a 800cc car to be jerky like this. Somehow I'm not fully satisfied with the answer. Does your Kwid have this jerkiness as well?

My humble suggestion would be to avoid the "official accessory" and go the aftermarket way. I have ordered and successfully fitted, Reverse Parking Sensors (700 rupees thereabouts), reversing camera (8$ night vision camera), and auto-dimming IRVM (which displays the camera output while reversing) for less than 14,500 rupees plus I also got the satisfaction of doing some DIY which I love

I've fitted 175/80 R13 tyres on my Kwid and its on stock rims. Its possible. Go for it

No, not at all. But why should a 3 cylinder engine jerk? It lacks refinement of 4 cylinders and low on bhp/ torque, that's all.

Cheers!

Kwid's throttle & clutch points are a bit different from other vehicles. It'll stall if clutch is disengaged the way we do in other brands, so we'll end up pumping the throttle. This also make it lurch. Coming from a Suzuki, it took me a while to get adjusted & it was jerky. It'll get smoother once you get the hang of it.

Exactly, I was thinking the same thing. Because even my 23 year old Maruti 800 feels so much smoother in comparison to the 800cc engine on the Kwid.

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Looks very attractive. But this will be a massive fail in the crash test.

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

My sister in Hyderabad is keen on the Kwid.
Today morning, however,I saw one brand new example reversing out from my apartment parking slot. The whole car was vibrating like crazy while reversing. I could see the vibrations on the wheels and front end literally, it was that bad.
The engine note was also unpleasant.

Anyone who has TDed the kwid observed anything similar?
Or could it be a one-off case?
