Re: MG Hector : Official Review

I think that the Hector is a wonderful product, but it is severely undertyred.

MG could have put bigger, and better looking alloys to do more justice to the side profile, to make it less van like from the side. Here's a MG Hector running on 245/45 R19. Makes it look a lot better, IMHO.

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

The BS6-compliant Hector diesel is priced from Rs 13.88 lakh for the entry-level Style variant and goes up to Rs 17.73 lakh for the fully loaded Sharp trim. This means that prices are up in the region of Rs 40,000-45,000 across all variants.

The variant-wise pricing of the BS6 Hector diesel.

30-40k increase happened in Sep so in a way its 40-45 + 30-40. Toyota had also pulled a fast one first by increase in price of the Fortuner then BS6 car launch with lower/similar price.

Won't this affect the ride quality?

Yes, it does look mean no doubt, at the expense of a bit of ride quality. Also, the Hector is built on a tight margin & its low cost is what makes it so lucrative for the customers. 19" alloys as well as tyres cost a bomb compared to the standard ones that Hector comes with. Ensuring a soft ride on 19" wheels means different spec (and generally costlier) suspension components would also be needed. These aspects surely would work against the VFM aspiration of the Hector.

Also, more than the tyres, its the suddenly dropping rear roof line design and rear that doesn't match the rest of the car that make it appear as an MPV in my opinion. Even in that image above, the tyres & large wheels aren't able to hide this visual aspect.

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

MG Motor India has modified a Hector and turned it into an ambulance that features life-saving medical equipment; one-off vehicle handed over to the CHC hospital in Halol, Gujarat.
Link

Apart from charity work, I'm glad that MG Motors have put fire extinguisher in it (mandatory yet very thoughtful, no offence to existing owners)

What a gimmick !

Which ambulance (apart from Omni, which is as good an ambulance as an auto-rickshaw) in the world has a patient entry door which opens upwards? Look at the clearance from the patients' bed-rest position, to the roof.
It's sad to see when people squeeze out a marketing opportunity from a medico-economic crisis, and try to earn brownie points from letting the world know the "anonymous charity work" that they are doing out of social responsibility. For a slightly higher amount of money as the cost of the MG car + modifications, they could have bought two tempo traveler ambulances and put a "donated by MG" sticker on them - would have been more useful.

If you find this bad, look at the contraption made by Hero Moto Corp in the name of an ambulance.

Though I agree with all your observations, this is the worst car to be an ambulance.

And to be honest, we do not need ambulances for the COVID fight. We firstly need better healthcare infrastructure. If I am not wrong, my whole district (the largest one in UP) has no ventilator. Where the ambulance would take a critical patient if there is no place to care for him??

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

The first Over the Air update is available for the Hector. All you have to do is turn the infotainment system on and ensure there is adequate network reception.

The entire update took about a couple of mins to download and install.

The new features are listed above.

The update screen. Sorry that the screen's too dirty. Haven't cleaned the car interiors in a while due to living next to a covid containment zone.

This is real good. OTA update is a boon in current circumstances!

Re: MG Shield+ contactless sales & service initiative launched

MG should be awarded to keep itself busy with new jargons during the lockdown in India. They are being overly desparate to sell their cars I feel.

With so much of debate about privacy issues with Chinese apps and devices I'm afraid that even the fancy infotainment system in MG cars which all drooled over, might be leaking your data without even your knowledge.
