Thanks in advance
I have the XZA+ and hence adding my opinion here.

I got Mudflaps, Mascot and scuff plates from the dealer at the time of delivery. They are of good quality and you should go for it. Even the Boot mat I got from TATA, quality is good and the price was almost the same as what I was getting outside. I got the 3D version of it, fits well. Shouldn't the car already have the parcel tray? At least mine came with it and I did not have to get it separately.

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

MHO INDEPENDENCE DAY DRIVE

MHO or Mumbai Harrier Owners, a voluntary group of people united by one brand of car, organizes a drive on Independence Day and Republic Day.
This year, the republic day drive had around 75 Harriers and the organizers (part of the group) planned to cross 100 for the Independence Day drive on 15th August 2023. As registrations started, it appeared that 100 was an ask and a special award was announced. The registration crossed 100 soon. As the D day came near, the registrations came to 120 and a stop had to be imposed.
During this time the organizers were also in touch with some organizations for sponsorship. Some of the sponsors are members of the MHO. At that time they chanced upon the World Book of Records who asked for the count to be increased to 130.
Please note that the organizers are not event specialists but have their own jobs/ business and families. However, they gave their all to make this drive a great success.

We assembled at Mira Road and our beasts were parked in a planned manner.

Our beauty beast posed for photo sessions with us and with other beasts.

The event flagged off and the convoy left for the destination at The Fern, Palghar.

My vehicle was in the middle (no. 60) and at inclines and turns one just saw a line of Harriers in the front and back. We felt like VIPs when we saw a section of people taking videos of the convoy.

There was a jam at the Hotel as the organizers and security helped park the vehicles.

After the flag hoisting, we had some group photo sessions and an internal program followed by a sumptuous brunch and left with gifts galore, friends and memories.

The World Book of Records recently confirmed that this is the Longest SUV Convoy of the Same Brand. Feel proud to have been a part of it.

A snippet of the drive is available on Youtube

The writeup and attached photos can not probably sum up the excitement, the joy and everything else that went with the drive.

MODs:

may decide if this needs yo be shifted to another appropriate thread.

- Harrier Mascot -- Go for it
- Scuff plates -- I never opted, so can't comment on the TATA Genuine Accessories one.
- Underbody anti-rust coating - Harrier underbody already has a rubberized coating, if you want to go for it then get it done at a reputed place like 3M.
- Teflon coating -- is a gimmick (read scam). Better give your car a good wash along with polishing every six months.
- Floor Mats -- I went for 7D mats, must say they just look good but not holding up well. Better go with the GFX mats, didn't see anything better than that.
- Tyres -- I got Apollo Apterra, they are not great but not bad either. I prefer to stay with stock until and unless they are too bad. Highly depends on what you get at the time of delivery.
Thanks @Highh5 for the wishes and feedback. The car comes with MRF Wanderer 235/65/17 104H Tyres. Will check again with the dealer about the buyback price, if they could give reasonable price I might still go ahead and switch to Michelin. Decided not to go with underbody coating and teflon as of now.

Thanks @dass for the feedback. You were right, Parcel tray comes with the car.

Seems like my SA is keeping his words, car reached yard yesterday afternoon and I could manage PDI today at the yard. I was told that they would take the car to showroom for PDI and will take it back to the yard, to which I didn't agree and he managed to get permission for me and my brother visiting yard for PDI. Followed Team-bhp checklist and didn't find anything wrong. Couldn't take a test drive as I had to rush back home.

Few observations,
- Odo reads only 9kM. Don't know if I should be happy about it or be suspicious why its too less
- Lot of dirt in the driver and co-driver side mats. Interior seems to be pretty clean though. SA assured it will be thoroughly cleaned by the time of delivery. I purposefully asked not to clean car today. Wanted to see how its kept in the yard in real
- Minor scratches near rear left door handle. Pointed it to SA, he said it will be cleared with deep cleaning and polishing before delivery.

On the accessories, I have decided to go with following from showroom
1. Mudflaps
2. Harrier Mascot
3. Scuff plates

For the floor mats, I'm visiting a shop nearby and will decide between 3D and 7D mats. Will be getting the visors also from there.
Will be getting insurance from Policybazar, found one from United India Insurance cheaper than what acko quoted (~7k less) with same IDV and Add-ons.

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

Three Year Ownership Update : 39,700KM :

Completed 3 years of ownership today of my Tata Harrier XZA+ with Delhi-Auli-Delhi. Harrier is not our daily drive, as I work from home and my wife has an official car. This is mostly our touring vehicle with go-anywhere capability (yeah, I would have opted for AWD but had very few options in 2020). In these 3 years, we have taken the following major road trips:and corresponding mileage figures as per MID.

1. Bhopal-Trivandrum-Bhopal : 16.8km/l

2. Bhopal-Delhi-Bhopal : 17km/l

3. Bhopal-Amarkantak-Bhopal : 16.2 km/l

4. Bhopal-Khujaraho-Bhopal : 17.5km/l

5. Delhi-Trivandrum-Delhi : 15.5 km/l

6. Delhi-Narkhanda-Bagha Saran-Delhi Narkhanda-Bagha Saran is one of the narrowest and most dangerous roads I drove with Harrier. If I had known it early, I might have taken a smaller car for that route. 14.5 km/l

7. Delhi-Sitlakhet-Delhi : 14.2 km/l

8. Delhi-Auli-Delhi : 13.8 km/l

Ownership Experience:

1. Rugged, Rattle Free and Niggle Free: taken this car through places where there are no roads. We love exploring offbeat destinations and avoiding tourist attractions. I am not a driver who abuses the car, but I am not the one who will slow down on every bump and pothole.

2. Ride Quality : Slightly stiff at low speeds but rides flat above 40 km/hr.

3. Spacious Cabin : Acres of real estate and can carry 5 people in a comfortable manner.

4. Safety : Has six airbags and a couple of ESP modes. Yes, this is not crash tested, and filter intrusion into the driver's knee region is a major safety risk. But I hope the platform is stable, which will secure a 4-star GNCAP.

5. Steering : Tight at low speeds and a bit vague or oversensitive at high speeds. After driving a continuous 16-hour journey from Auli to Delhi, my back aches a lot due to manoeuvring those endless, winding roads.

6. Interior Quality: I have an open parking (always i opted societies with closed parking, but this time the broker cheated us and we ended up with open parking), but the interiors are still holding up nicely after 3 summers. So far, the colour is intact, and there is no chipping of materials ither. Once every three months, I use Maguer polish on Dash and other plastics.

7.AC : Chilling AC. Blower noise at maximum is a bit high but manageable.

8. Exterior : Paint quality is not comparable to VW, Mahindra, and Hyundai/Kia. There is rusting in the engine bay. It seems the paint is chipping easily when compared to my old cars (Figo and Punto). A lot has been written about the misalignment and consistency of panel gaps.

9. Drive modes : I use Sports modes only for overtaking in single carriageways, and City drive mode is the default and I have never used Eco

10.Ergonomics : Really bad. Knees touching the dashboard, Lack of useable armrests . Seats are comfortable, and lumbar support is an advantage.

11. NVH : Average. Noisy Engine, slight vibrations at low rev

Service Charges(Service at every 7.5km/6-months, Actually Checkup at 7.5k/6 months and Main service every 15k/1 year) :
First Free Service : 3394km - INR 1446/- , 30/Sep/2020
Second Free Service : 7384km - INR 639/-, 02/Nov/2020
Third Free Service : 14790km - INR 11800/- , 29/Jun/2021
Fourth Service : 21428km - INR 4301 , 30/Oct/2021
Fifth Service : 27178 km- 14108/-, 04/Feb/2022
Sixth Service: 30800km - 18741/- , 14/Jul/2022 (changed the brake pads and disks)
Seventh Service : 34634km - 19150/-, - 17/Feb/2023
Eighth Service :35917km - 2475/-, 11/Aug/2023

Conclusion : Other than the size (for a family of 2 this big a car is overkill . The space it took on road and fuel it burns for those vaccant spaces) am happy with the car. An average car for touring safely with service network in most towns

I like but not love Harrier

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

Just a regular update on 4th service (the first paid service). The total bill was Rs. 1608, most of which was for DEF top-up. Mentioned a slight rattle from rear windows, which was taken care off. There were no other complaints to mention, the car drives like a charm, no rattles apart from the one mentioned earlier.

Which service center is this? The KHT one in Whitefield is not confidence inspiring and hence this question.

This is KHT Whitefield. My experience with them has always been good. I have had no reasons to complain. Although, they never give the vehicle on the same day, it's always the next day evening. That's okay with me as long as they do what's required.

If you have a specific SA that you go to, please provide his contact details if you can.

Sorry for late reply. No, there is no one specific. Every time it is a different person, although I am trying to get the same person to handle the service. For the first two services it was the same person, but then he quit.

I usually get Sahas, he is a nice guy and efficient. As mentioned by Ambujlal, they never give back the car on the same day, that seems to be the only drawback.

That is the same guy I had for my first service. Guess, I will continue and see if the experience gets better, considering they did nothing in the first service.

With me he has been good. Even went out of his way to help me once when I was stuck on the road due to blown brake light fuse.

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

Hello Guys,

I just ran a diagnosis on my IRA app and saw one of the metrics report. It shows Power Train Status as a fault. It's driving fine and I do not see any issues still.

Do I need to visit the service center for it? I bought the car in April (the XZA+ automatic Black version) and have only done the first servicing 2 months ago.

Has anyone faced the similar problem?

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

Came across this thread,

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...se-action.html (Transmission thud / jerk in my Tata Harrier XTA+ Dark (Automatic) and the best course of action)

And wanted to share my own experience with Harrier XZA+ Dark bought in 1st week of October 2021.

Similar to the issue shared by OP , the jerk/ thud that transmission goes through when switching from 3rd to 2nd gear, is also present in my harrier.

I noticed this issue within the first 1000km itself; in fact, it was within 1st week of taking delivery. But it was so random, that first, I ignored it, but when it happened again, I told about it to the TASS on the first service, but as luck would have it, I could re-produce it.

I have been living with it for the past two years & 24000 km, and due to the lack of its recurrence, had almost forgotten about it until now.

Recently 1 month back, I was driving in city mode, the car has been driven in city mode 95% of the time, 3% eco, 1% sports- a bit enthusiastically. There was a window of overtake, I was in 3rd gear, I pressed the accelerator approximately 50%, and the transmission kicked down to second smoothly, but when post overtake, it was time to upshift, the gearbox made a KHRRRR sound ( like putting in gear without pressing clutch) , the car nose-dived slightly and then upshifted, I was alarmed, as no auto tranny should make this noise, I cut short my long drive and went back home, with negative thoughts about the reliability of tranny and the overall product Harrier, in my mind

After two days (I had almost let it go as a one-off incident but had noted it down in my notes to tell it to TASS on the 5th service), this incident occurred again, in the same circumstances as above, KHRRR sound, 2nd to 3rd upshift.

I immediately went to TASS, and told them about the issue, but as always, the patient recovers as soon as he goes to the doctor. The car was absolutely normal when TASS checked it, no recurrence and no codes generated.

Lastly, when I told the SA that I had consulted my friend who is in ZF gearbox manufacturing, and he told me that this is not a sign of healthy transmission, the SA told me, “SAAAR, don't worry, you have 5-year warranty. If tranny fails, we will replace it completely with a brand new one, and you will get a new transmission in an old car!"

I asked him what if it fails mid-way in my outstation trip, he said, "Saar, take this number of roadside assistance, call them, and they will tow the car to TASS from wherever you are in Bharat, and you will get a new gearbox."

I said thanks for these confidence-inspiring words and left; since then issue has occurred one more time while the jerking part is perennially present.

I always thought that mine was one of the most sorted of all Harriers, with none of the usual reported issues, still in my mind somewhere, I was always a bit sceptical about Tata products, but had full faith in the engine and gearbox as they were both tried and tested and from reputable manufacturers. Now I am not that confident, especially what will happen post 5-year warranty.*

The reason I did not get a T-Roc at that time was the fear of the DSG failure; never had I thought that dark clouds would also start looming over a torque converter, considered the epitome of reliability.

( upon further enquiry, one of the guys at TASS told me about a harrier AT driven for approximately 1.7 lakh km had its oil seal failed, leading to spillage of the entire gear oil; the owner failed to notice it and that resulted in gearbox failure. These guys quoted 7 lakhs for a new transmission, so high mileage owners, be aware).

Mod Note - Too many errors. Please proofread before posting.

What I have experienced is that Harrier absolutely doesn't like sudden accelerations or being driven in sports mode for extended periods. It may have all the power and torque figures; however, it likes to be treated as a gentle giant, moving at its own pace and comfort. When required, it can beat anyone but that would be a one-off case, and not a norm. It loves to remain relaxed, not meant for any aggressive driving. My experience is with the Automatic version. No idea about the manual version.
