Tata Harrier New Teaser Aug 2021

Tata Harrier official instagram channel and Twitter handle posted this:

2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review-screenshot_20210808_122342_com.instagram.android_edit_77459784764740.jpg

Could this be about rumoured XTA /XTA+ variant or is it something else?

This teaser could be the hint as the launch of Harrier XTA and XTA+ variants is in coming days.

The Harrier one looks to be for a panoramic sun roof

Very likely it’s the new XTA and XTA+ variant. As shared by @yd_gli

Re: Tata Harrier New Teaser Aug 2021

I guess the Harrier XM/XMA & XZ/XZA will now be available with optional Sunroof.

Rather than adding another variant, Tata better add that feature to existing variants.

If Sunroof is made available on XZ/XZA, the XZ+/XZA+ will look overpriced because it just gains Powered Driver Seat, Auto Dimming IRVM & Diamond Cut Alloys which isn't worth tthe already premium of 1.3 lakhs.

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

As such our family is a Tata fanboy I must say. We've owned 2 Vista's both the 75 and 90 Bhp, Nano, and currently own the Tiago. Yesterday when I went to pick my Tiago back from service, test drove the Harrier to replace my Brezza. Boy the car looks like a giant standing right on your face.

When I test drove the top end automatic, noticed few things, like the hard plastic on the doors (even Tiago has better texture) which put me off.

The car drove without any fault, no errors, no squeaks, however the car failed to impress me. At 24 lakhs, maybe I am asking for too much and therefore, decided to take another test drive at another dealership.

What other options should I look at?

Tata Harrier & Safari 4x4 or petrol going to be launched?

If you notice the Harrier video has 4 shooting stars also on the left side there is a shelf with 4 racks.
The Harrier video also states "Experience panoramic views like never before". Bigger sunroof?

The Safari video has 4 people probably on the fourth floor(?) by looking at the elevator behind them.
The Safari video also states "Adventures made automatic" and #upshiftyourlife. Is it a reference to the petrol automatic variant?

Or is it a 4 star GNCAP rating?

Or am I reading too much into it?

Could it be All 4 disc brakes? I wish.
Auto transmission and panoramic roof are obvious though.

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

I will prefer the XZA over this. For additional 47000 rupees, I get better safety (6 airbags), better interior, better audio, Isofix, and some more and will lose only on the panoramic sunroof. XTA seems like a better proposition but I guess the market expectation is different.

I hope the 'Adventures made Automatic' points at AT+AWD. I am sick of Tata ignoring this combination. First Hexa, then Harrier, now Gravitas too.

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

Tata is trying all permutations and combinations, ways, and means to pull up Harrier/Safari. But unfortunately it is not working.

For a car that costs, 22-25lakhs, there are a lot of prominent/significant features that are given a miss like LED headlights, Ventilated seats, All-round disc brakes, Wireless charging, etc.

Also adding to let down are the ergonomic issues (driver knee touching centre console, inappropriately placed centre armrest), poor fit and finish especially for a car of this cost, poorly calibrated hydraulic steering (both at slow and high speeds), no petrol option, no optional AWD option, and finally of course the niggle overloaded ownership experience.

And given the launch of the XUV700, the future of Harrier/Safari looks bleak unless Tata restructures and refocusses itself over the product and service. Fingers crossed.
Let us hope they really turn it over.

Not sure if you own one. Have tried to adjusting the steering wheel position? I drive a manual one, my knee never touches the console unless I try resting it. Also fail to understand the arguments around the hydraulic steering, you get a complete measure of it after few drives. In fact, during last weekend drive, a motorbiker suddenly appeared from nowhere just in front of my car when it was running at around hundred. In a split second, I was able to maneuver to right and then get back to original lane avoiding another speeding car coming from opposite direction. Could I have done it so easily in a car with an unresponsive steering and anything less than an impressive driving dynamics? Would an unnecessarily hard steering helped in such situation? Done enough driving in life to know the answer

Those of us who have 'keeda' of hitting the road every now and then for long drives would consider wonderful driving experience, ride quality, safety etc. as top priorities. Tata Harrier ticks most of the boxes ... and no, most its competitors don't. They are mostly tuned as 'urban SUV's, soft suspensions, ultra light bodies. Everyone might not like this idea of saving costing in build and spending in few extra 'features' which can easily installed from local shop if needed.

Btw, Tata Harrier has been clocking fairly good sales figures MoM. I am also excited about XUV700 launch ... not because it has air purifier and few gizmos, but because it would mete out 185hp/200hp. Shall be all eyes when Jeep Meridian launches next as well.

Wow, I am sure even Tata is not so sure about the hits and misses as you are! I drive a Harrier and I love the steering and it's feel and response, you may have to drive it a bit to understand this, or maybe you did and prefer the light steering, not sure.

Coming to the features, other than the Chinese MG, there is no other competitor for Harrier at it's price point(fingers crossed over XUV 700, as the final pricing details and variants are suspect). While creta and seltos may give all these features but they have a smaller 1.5 litre engine. This ends all the comparison!

Petrol engine option - with petrol at 106/litre and a thirsty 2L engine, I would think a hundred times before pressing the pedal and engaging the turbo. And in cities chocked with traffic, I am sure most MG customers too are rethinking petrol option. It just does not make economic sense to get a petrol engine in this segment anymore.

Niggles - I am sure the V1 might have had issues, but 2021 Harriers are pretty niggle free. Thousands of creta s with paint peeling, seltos with no braking or engine mount breakages never counts as niggles? In any case even more reason to not load the vehicle with features!

It is taking time for people to put their trust in a Tata product above twenty lakhs, even with this, clocking close to 4k sales for the twins is commendable, and would not be possible if Harrier dint get many things right! Let see how XUV 700 performs, wishing it all the luck. Peace out!
