It's a lot more than that, just a Google search reveals a price north of INR 1Lac without considering any shipping and/or import duties.

https://www.ahsheadlight.com.au/prod...ight-assembly/

Just to give some perspective: The ambient light of my right driver door went bad and I enquired about a replacement. Turned out the light alone can't be replaced and it warrants a replacement of the entire door card assembly. The replacement cost for that was INR 59,000/ plus labour costs if it was not under warranty. Thankfully, I got a warranty claim but the ETA for that part was more than 3 months.

OT: I guess we should park some money and buy the extended warranty before the end of 4 years to save ourselves for the next 2 years. The beast is an elephant to own and maintain. Nothing about it would be frugal and rather be freaking expensive

The USP of repainting from the skoda workshop is just for the specific paint colour matching. Especially VAGs have some different shades, that aftermarket paint job cannot be colour matched. (I have tried many on POLO and miserably failed)

WRT to your bonnet, i hope it should have been removed for the repaint work, how was the alignment after fixing it back? did it fix inline with fender cutout? This is something that increases my anxiety as the same service centre had ruined the alignment and bonnet looks out of place on my friend's octavia.

I've tried multiple times and I let it be after a while. I should have escalated it to Skoda Corporate. I'll get it fixed when my new insurance policy kicks in.

The paint match is exactly why I haven't given it to any other shop - others which have done a great job before with my older cars (They were black and silver so easier paint jobs I guess)

Yes, they did remove it to repaint the bonnet. The alignment is okay and has no glaring issues. Although the panel gap seems a bit wider now than before, it just might be my mind playing tricks on me. I've learned to live with it now

Nice catch mate . I did check about this, Its my mobile camera playing tricks.

Another picture taken wide has both indicators working. Service centre confirmed that both indicators are working fine.

Unless it’s the camera angle, the alignment on your bonnet on either side of the skoda badge seems off.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Skoda has started pushing out software updates to infotainment systems over the past couple of months. We just received ours a week back.

If you haven't heard from your ASC yet on this, I'd recommend proactively enquiring.Lets hope the updates make the infotainment smoother

Thanks for sharing this news mate! Could you please confirm the latest software version and the variant of your Octavia? My car (Style) just came back from the second service and no updates have been made.

This is the version I have since 2021:

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Hi all,
I had reported this issue in this forum back in Sep 2023.
The Infotainment in my Octavia keeps restarting randomly and worse, it happens in the night as well when the car is parked and locked.

In the past, the problem used to happen for 2 days at random and then get rectified automatically.

However, during the last one month, this issue has become very regular and quite annoying.
Other than the Infotainment restarting by itself, there's a new issue which is the Audio volume increasing every few seconds by itself.
This gets very dangerous sometimes while driving when the volume increases suddenly to unbelievable levels.

Took the car to the Service centre who confirmed that the system has the latest Software updates.
The next option I was told was to Report the issue to Skoda from their side and follow their instructions on troubleshooting.

Car is lying in the Service centre for almost a week now with No resolution yet.
There were some Uninstall/Re-install steps that were asked to be done but yet to get a resolution from Skoda.

My email escalations to Skoda India didn't help either.

The only other forum where I saw this reported was in briskoda however as per discussions there, Installing 1941 version seems to have resolved the issue.
But that's not the case with my car.

Mine just returned from service. They did an update but also told me another update is due in March. I did not face any issues with the infotainment in the past, at least nothing bothersome. Only rare issue I faced was loosing control of the volume scroller randomly. Apply car play works like it should.

The issue would vanish upon shutdown and restart. This is the 2nd time in 2 years this issue has come up. Glad the car is under warranty. SVC told me that it is the selector chip issue.

All that being said, it’s been 24 months of pure bliss so far. I knew what I was signing up for when I bought the car. A couple of days of downtime does not bother me since I do not use this car for commuting, highways only. Clocked over 23K kms so far. I guess owning a couple of KTM’s does make you immune to some downtime once in a while. When these babies run, they fly

This car is a keeper and I do intend to take extended warranties for as long as it’s available.

Will post an update once the car is back.
The Octi returned from 2nd service in 3 days. Selector chip was replaced under warranty. Raja Skoda did have the part in stock but warranty approval took time. Nevertheless, the car is back and no issues to report post 2nd service. Bill was some 18k and as experienced in the past, Raja Skoda continues to impress with their service and customer engagement. Tafe has been great as well but Raja is just closer to home. Did not do wash or alignment at the SVC. Dropped the car off at Cars Buddy for annual detailing session, inside out. They did a fab job of getting the suede seats all cleaned up besides shining up the PPF as well. Have a long trip coming up soon, let’s see if the selector chip holds well this time around. They did mention that the chip/part this time around is an updated part. So folks who have had this issue in the past, do watch out.

Re: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TSI DSG Review

Can we get the latest software update details of infotainment system.

Is there side by side maps and music available in apple car play.

Split screen option has always been available AFAIK. Once you start navigation, touch the bottom right icon. The one that looks like 3 bars if I recall. Screen will split into maps and music

Thanks to Arun for sending this in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP share page!

I do not have a Team-BHP account, hence I am not able to comment here.

I am writing here so that it will reach BHPian "mah45". I faced the volume increase and infotainment restart problem many times in my Octavia and I have recorded the same in a video evidence. I have had many visits to the Skoda service "Gurudev Motors, Chennai" and finally replaced the infotainment controller unit. Just want to help him. Please pass on this information.

Thank you so much for sharing this and thanks to Arun as well.

At the moment the car is still in the Service station and I was told they did a combined update for
- Infotainment
- BCM
- Airbags

The car is still under observation post this update for the last 3-4 days and I was told they did not face the issue so far.
Expecting to take delivery today if all is ok.

If this doesn't solve it, will request for a replacement of the Infotainment control unit.

Further update -
It looks the issue once again popped up today during vehicle start.
They are going to once again take video and share it with Skoda and will again wait for Response from them.
I told them I have read in this forum about the issue getting resolved only after a Infotainment control unit replacement.
While they seem to acknowledge, they say they can't quote so to Skoda, and will have to do what is being advised.
And this unit being quite expensive, maybe Skoda is keeping replacement as the last resort.

But how long should we wait for the car, and that too in my case it's my daily runner, with no other car to commute to work.

One more issue that I had reported multiple times is that of the Rear brakes giving screeching noise in low speeds.
Everytime Skoda asks the Service centre to just clean it and apply lubricants although I am told this problem is unresolved in atleast 15 units in the same Service centre.

We all debate a lot about QC issues in Tata, but honestly my Tata Nexon ownership earlier for 6 years wasn't this annoying.

Both these issues above along with a noise I get on the dash are something I have been facing from early days of Octavia ownership...QC issues in such high priced CKD units are unacceptable.
